Leeds Involving People is working with the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) to hear about people's experiences of early years support for deaf children aged 0-5.



We're holding two upcoming focus groups and would love to hear from people who would like to share their experiences, views and ideas.



The sessions will help us understand what support is working well, where there may be gaps and what could be improved for deaf children and their families.

*City shines as Light Night Leeds makes memorable return*

Leeds looked stunning last night as the city’s annual dazzling light festival returned for the first of its two nights.

With its huge programme of spectacular light projections and captivating sounds, Light Night Leeds will transform the city again tonight (29 Oct) to celebrate Leeds and its people.

✨Eternal Ensemble - ONYVA! Studio

Eternal Ensemble at Leeds Minster sees a cellist appearing to perform across multiple points, as spatial audio and immersive projection repeat, layer and transform the performance.

✨In Dual Light - Nele F**k & Niels Blondeel

On Leeds Civic Hall, Belgian artists Nele F**k and Niels Blondeel were inspired by the mathematical idea of duality. The piece explores how two apparently different things can be alternative expressions of the same underlying form.

Careers in Leeds is a free careers, jobs and skills event taking place on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at first direct bank arena.

Bringing together more than 100 employers, training providers and support organisations, Careers in Leeds offers the opportunity to explore jobs, apprenticeships, training and career pathways from across the city, all in one place. Baby Week is an award-winning early years initiative designed to bring sectors together and give every baby the best possible start in life.

Originally launched right here in Leeds in 2016, it has since grown into a massive national movement across the UK.
The week-long celebration bridges the gap between parents, caregivers, and early years professionals (such as midwives, health visitors, and nursery teachers) to share vital information about early childhood development.

This years theme is chat play and read! . The campaign emphasizes the extreme importance of speech and language development ("Chat"), early years physical interaction ("Play"), and bedtime storytelling or early reading skills ("Read") to build the best foundation for a child's first five years.

This years event will be held from 14th November - 16th November at Temple Newsham from 10:30 - 15:30 this is a free event.

The Fire Fighters Charity is hosting a Bonfire & Fireworks Extravaganza at their headquarters on Friday, 6th November, with the event proudly supported by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Expect an evening packed with entertainment, including: A traditional bonfire, two fireworks displays, including a shorter, quieter display for younger children and those sensitive to loud noises, fairground rides and food and drink stalls.

Gates open at 5:30pm | Quieter fireworks display at 7:45pm | Main fireworks display at 8:35pm.

Tickets – Adults £8 | Children £4 | Family ticket (one adult and one child) £10:00, when booked in advance.

Every penny raised will support The Fire Fighters Charity, helping provide lifelong physical and emotional support to serving and retired fire and rescue colleagues and their families.
