Gardens and Grounds Tours for Heritage Open Days

FREE GARDENS AND GROUNDS TOUR: 11th – 13th September as part of Heritage Open Days

Join us in the grounds of Leeds Industrial Museum for a free, relaxed 30-minute tour of our green spaces. Look at the wildlife of the mill, and hear how plants have historically been used to dye textiles. Also taking a look at the role the garden has played on site over the years.

Cottage Tours for Heritage Open Days

FREE COTTAGE TOURS: 18th and 20th September as part of Heritage Open Days!

Join us in the recreated ‘cottage’ rooms at Leeds Industrial Museum for a free, relaxed 20-minute tour and social history talk. Catch a glimpse of domestic life for a weaving family in nineteenth-century Leeds via objects in our collection. Discover how the textile trade depended on women long before they formally entered the workplace in factories, all whilst managing household affairs.

🚂 Trains Trains Trains! returns this weekend, Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 August. Our popular railway extravaganza is back with all the usual fun, as well as sneak peeks at our upcoming Railway Gallery redevelopment.

There'll be a pop up exhibition from the Friends of Sierra Leone National Railway Museum, tours of the locomotives in storage including tours of the external / outdoor museum store, talks and drop in activities.

Plus, an opportunity to make your voice heard as part of a public consultations as we embark on developing a new Railway Gallery.

Fuzzy, buzzy fun inspired by nature and our Untangled exhibition. Join us throughout the summer holidays for a special ladybird trail and nature inspired felt and wool craft workshops in the grounds (weather dependent).
