Exciting news for Roots & Shoots! 🌿

We’re delighted to have been awarded a grant from EN:Communities as part of their 10th anniversary celebrations, supporting groups that help people live healthier lives.

The funding will help us create a new raised bed for our Roots & Shoots volunteers, giving us even more space to grow fresh fruit and vegetables. 🥕🍓

The produce we grow helps supplement people’s diets and means more fresh food can be shared with the community, helping ease the pressure of rising supermarket costs.

A huge thank you to EN:Communities for supporting our work. We can’t wait to get growing!

A lovely afternoon out for Debbie and Jenny!

They had the honour of attending the Weston Charity Awards at Fortnum & Mason for a very special afternoon tea, courtesy of the Pilotlight 360 programme and the Garfield Weston Foundation.☕🩷

A huge thank you to everyone involved for your generosity, support and encouragement over the past 12 months. It means so much to CLP, and we’re incredibly grateful to be supported by organisations that help us continue the work we do across Leeds.

📣 WE’RE HIRING: Key Worker & Employer Liaison! 🧡

Could you help people find work that works for them?

We’re looking for a Key Worker & Employer Liaison to join CLP’s new Healthy Working Life Supported Employment programme in Leeds.

You’ll work directly with people who are unemployed or facing barriers to employment, helping them find the right opportunities and build towards sustainable work. You’ll also build relationships with local employers, helping create opportunities and making sure people get the support they need when starting a job.

It’s a role for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships and helping make positive change happen.

✨ What’s on offer?
- Minimum 21 hours per week
- £26,815–£28,462.50 full-time salary (35 hours)
- 25 days annual leave, rising with service, plus bank holidays
- Your birthday off
- Free healthcare scheme
- 24-hour employee assistance programme
- Leeds – this is a face-to-face role.

Are you aged 16-25 and not sure what your next step is?

Our Trailblazer programme offers free, personalised 1:1 support for young people in Leeds who are unemployed or economically inactive.

We can help with practical things like CVs, job searching and interview preparation, while also working with you on the personal barriers that might be making it harder to move forward.

You’ll get support based around your goals, your circumstances and what you’re ready for. We can also connect you with local training, education and job opportunities.

To be eligible, you must:
🫱🏼‍🫲🏽 Be aged 16-25
📍 Live in Leeds
👉🏻 Be unemployed or economically inactive
📚 Need support to move towards work or training

Your child could be eligible to receive a free book every month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

We deliver the programme across LS8, LS9, LS14 and LS15, giving eligible children aged five and under a new, age-appropriate book delivered straight to their home every month until their fifth birthday. 📬📖

So if you live in one of these postcode areas, it’s worth checking whether your child can join.

Today is World Mental Health Day, but supporting people with their mental health isn’t something we only think about once a year.

Across our programmes, we recognise that your mental health can have a huge impact on things like confidence, learning, relationships and moving towards work.

That’s why mental health support is built into some of the programmes we offer. Sometimes having someone to talk to can be an important part of figuring out what comes next.

That’s where our Healthy Working Life Supported Employment (HWLSE) programme can help.

You’ll get 1:1 support tailored around you, whether you’re looking for work or already employed and worried about losing your job.

You could be eligible if you:

Autumn is starting to show up at Nowell Mount. 🍂🌱

The days are getting a little shorter, the leaves are starting to change and there are already a few signs that the garden is moving into its next season.

Our Roots & Shoots volunteers have been busy making the most of the summer growing season and now we're starting to see what autumn has in store. 🥕🍂

There’s always something happening at the community garden, whatever the season. Fancy coming along and getting involved?
