We are equally delighted and devastated to confirm that Cllr Laura Jane Fisher in Moortown and Kathleen Johnstone for Roundhay won seats, while Eileen Taylor for Chapel Allerton ward and Matthew in Alwoodley were unsuccessful. Full results for our CLP and across the city are here: https://www.leeds.gov.uk/your-council/elections/election-results

On behalf of Laura Jane, Kathleen, Eileen and Matthew and all the campaign teams, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that voted for us, and especially those played a part in the campaigns, from doorknocking, to delivering and helping.

We made a record number of contacts, and kept positive and resolute despite a number of things that reflect politics in 2026 (and affect candidates from other parties too). We can be incredibly proud.

Finally, these were a difficult set of elections for a number of reasons. Most difficult was the death of our friend Mahalia France-Mir, and she remains in our thoughts.

More about our positive vision on the Leeds Labour Party page - Labour-led Leeds is the greenest council in the UK! You need to vote Labour on Thursday to keep it that way:

🌹 Leeds Labour is Green Council of the Year! 🌳 When the Greens helped the local Conservative coalition to run Leeds, we had bin strikes, rubbish piling in our streets and higher carbon emissions.

💪 In Leeds, we have a principled local Labour team that is delivering for you and standing up to stop Reform.

Again we will call out falsehoods when we see them. We could put it down to naivety, though it is not the first time we have heard this line from our opposition. But the evidence is clear (on the council website).

I suppose they would say their whip is ‘different’ - but it is remarkable how often they vote the same way!

In contrast, we take our communities seriously - Labour-led Leeds was voted the greenest council in the whole of the UK, has free garden waste collections, and outstanding children’s services three times in a row, etc. - don’t risk these on Thursday, and risk Reform getting a foothold in controlling the council…
