A great example of colleagues coming together to support their local community ❤️

Our Parents & Carers Community has donated essential items including clothing, toiletries and feeding bottles to LEEDS BABY BANK helping families experiencing poverty across the city.

Colleagues organised collection points at our Leeds head office, with their donations now already reaching families in need.

Northern Gas Networks’ Knapton H2 Storage for H2P project has secured further innovation funding from Ofgem's Strategic Innovation Fund, marking an important step forward for hydrogen storage and energy resilience 🤝

The project will now explore practical near-surface and above-ground hydrogen storage options in North Yorkshire, alongside the potential for larger underground storage to support the UK’s future energy needs.

Led by NGN with partners including the British Geological Survey, Centrica, Ceraphi Energy, National Gas Transmission, the University of Edinburgh and Wales & West Utilities, the project aims to help reduce wasted renewable energy and support a more flexible, secure and low-carbon energy system.

Heading off in a caravan or motorhome this weekend? 🚐

Before the wheels hit the road, there are a few gas safety things you need to be aware of:

🌲If hiring, ask if the gas appliances in your Leisure Accommodation Vehicle (LAV) have been safety-checked and serviced. This is a legal requirement if holidaying in the UK.

🌲Keep hold of the appliance manuals/ maintenance instructions for the gas appliances in your LAV, as these will be different to the ones in your home.

🌲Gas cookers should not be used for heating and require adequate ventilation when in use.

🌲BBQs are only intended to be used in open, well-vented spaces. NEVER take your used BBQ inside your motorhome or caravan during or after use. This could cause Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning.

🌲CO poisoning can be mistaken for other holiday ailments, such as food poisoning, dehydration or a hangover. Remember the six main symptoms of Carbon Monoxide poisoning: headaches, dizziness, nausea, breathlessness, collapse and loss of consciousness.

Did you know summer is the perfect time to service your gas appliances? 🧰

You'll probably find engineers are more available to book in during this time also 👷‍♂️

It's recommended that your boiler has an annual service and maintenance to ensure that it's working and heating your home correctly.

Always make sure that you book your service with a Gas Safe Register engineer (look out for the yellow triangle) ⚠️

👷‍♂️ Our Engineers have now safely restored gas to nearly all impacted properties in Pocklington after around 1,200 homes and businesses lost supply on Friday 14 August
🤝 Our teams have visited all homes where we could gain access. Customers who weren’t at home when our engineers visited and still need to be reconnected should contact our Customer Care team as soon as possible.

We will arrange for an engineer to come out to your address to safely turn your gas supply back on
🪪 All colleagues will be wearing NGN identification

We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone in Pocklington for your patience, kindness and support during the loss of gas supply incident. The way the community worked with our teams made a real difference as engineers worked around the clock to restore gas supplies as quickly and safely as possible.

A special thank you also goes to Pocklington Rugby Club, which opened its doors at short notice and allowed us to set up a customer support hub for both our teams and local residents.

Gas has been restored to almost all customers and our Customer Hub is now closed.

👷‍♂️ Our Engineers have now safely restored gas to nearly all impacted properties in Pocklington after around 1,200 homes and businesses lost supply on Friday 14th August.

🤝 Our teams have visited all homes where we have been able to gain access. Customers who weren’t at home when our engineers visited and still need to be reconnected should contact our Customer Care team as soon as possible, using the details on the NGN card we left at your property.

We will arrange for an engineer to come out to your address to safely turn your gas supply back on.

🏠The Customer Support Hub is now closed, this includes all food and shower facilities.

🤝Anyone who needs support can contact the Customer Care Team by email at [email protected] or call 0800 040 7766, and hit Option 4.

📢 Loss of Gas Supply Update

Gas supply has been restored to 743 customers.

👷Engineers remain on site and are now going door to door to visit all affected properties to safely turn the gas supply back on at the meter.

🔔It’s important that this process is completed by an NGN engineer, please don’t attempt to turn your gas supply back on yourself.

🤝Vulnerable customers will continue to be prioritised for restoration.

If you’re not at home when an engineer calls, we will leave a card with our details. Please contact us as soon as possible and we will arrange for an engineer to come straight out and turn your gas supply back on.

🏠Our Customer Care team will be available to speak to and provide support in person at the Customer Support Hub located at Pocklington Rugby Club, Burnby Lane, YO42 2QB from 8am on Sunday.

🥣Hot plates and food vouchers are available to collect from the Customer Hub in the morning. Please bring proof of address (drivers license, bill, etc).

🍔A food van will be providing food options throughout the day on Sunday. The food van is located at the Customer Support Hub.

🚿Hot showering facilities will be available at Francis Scaithe Sports Centre until 4pm.
