Funding offered for small projects to improve community connections and mental wellbeing
Local people and groups across Herefordshire can get up to £250 towards a new or existing project that could make communities stronger and improve mental health and wellbeing.
Herefordshire Council, through its joint su***de prevention programme with Worcestershire, is offering grants for activity that is led by residents, whether individuals, community groups, or small charities and will benefit their local areas and the people living there.
The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Microgrants Scheme is now open for 2026. The application process is easy via this short form: Micro Grants for Neighbourhood and Community Groups - Application Form or for an informal chat, contact [email protected]
Cllr Carole Gandy, Herefordshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing, said: “The very best ideas about making life better for people, improving our mental well-being and staying connected to others come from local communities. Please do get in touch if you have an idea or an existing project that could benefit from some extra funding and make a difference for people where you live.”
Funding can support existing projects or groups, or new ideas. Each year around 15 different projects have been funded, and the Council is now seeking applications for new grants. Criteria to be awarded funding are straightforward:
Funded activities will help connect people, build stronger communities, and support foster positive mental health and wellbeing
The grant of up to £250 can be used to create a new project or improve an existing group or project. It can include buying goods or a service
These activities will help connect people, build stronger communities, and foster positive mental health and wellbeing.
Individuals, community groups and smaller volunteer-led organisations and charities (turnover less than £100,000) based in Herefordshire or Worcestershire
Activities must take place in either county and be led by residents

The Electrical Safety Fund is open for applications.

Please help share an important funding opportunity with community organisations in your local parish. Applications for the Electrical Safety Fund are now open, with £1 million available to support projects which protect people from electrical harm.

Eligible organisations can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to deliver projects that:

- Improve electrical safety education

- Remove, repair or replace unsafe electrical products

- Address electrical installation safety issues

- Raise awareness of electrical safety risks and how people can stay safe

The Fund is designed to support organisations working with people who may be at greater risk of electrical harm, including those affected by the cost of living, rising energy costs, poor housing, age, disability, or other factors that increase vulnerability.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to:

-Charities

-Public bodies, such as Fire and Rescue Services or Trading Standards

-Other registered not-for-profit organisations

Projects should primarily benefit individuals and communities particularly vulnerable to electrical risk and injury.

Ledbury Town Council would like to congratulate all of our young people who received their GCSE results today.

This year’s GCSE results continue to be impressive with 69.1% of Herefordshire young people achieving a Grade 4 or above in all subjects, this is significantly above the West Midlands average of 66.6%.

Performance in both English and Maths has been particularly strong, with the Herefordshire outcomes in both English and Maths at Grade 4 and above beating the West Midlands and England averages results. English at Grade 4 or above averages at 64.8% for Herefordshire, which is well above the West Midlands at 55.5% and England at 59.5%. Maths is similarly impressive at 65.3%, with the West Midlands at 52.4%, and the England average at 57.2%.

Herefordshire students also excelled in their Combined Science results with averages of 63.6%, compared to West Midlands at 52.7% and England averages at 58.1%.
