A topic has been raised to the Parish concerning double sided parking in certain areas of the village, we'd like to highlight the importance of considerate parking for emergency vehicles.

🚒 Think Before You Park 🚒

When vehicles are parked on both sides of a street, fire engines and other emergency vehicles often cannot get through. Every second counts in an emergency - blocked access could mean the difference between life and death.

✅ Park responsibly:
• Leave enough space for large vehicles to pass
• Observe parking signage and road markings
• Avoid double parking or mounting pavements
• Check before leaving your vehicle

Your actions could make all the difference.

Hi everyone, we currently have two matters being raised with NYC highway: Leavening Brow drainage and Leppington Lane passing places. Attached are the communications relating to both matters which the HOs have closed but we think better solutions can be made. For the leavening brow drainage, the ho has cleared some areas but not all so we would like input from villagers if the issue is really resolved, if not any suggestions to feedback to the highways would be appreciated.

For Leppington Lane we are following up further as the current signage isn't sufficient in highlighting to the increasing amounts of non-local traffic that the road is single track and often used by local pedestrians and cyclists.

All feedback and insights are much appreciated as it will help our cases to NYC highways to hopefully take further action. Please feel free to share this and email your thoughts to [email protected], these issues will be discussed at the next parish meeting on 20th January which you are welcome to come along and join the conversation. PLANNED ROAD RESTRICTION NOTIFICATION from North Yorkshire Council: 28/10/2025 - Back Lane, Leavening

Description of works: Tree trimming from around overhead power lines.

The Restriction will be in place for a period of 1 day between 28th October 2025 and 1st November 2025

Calling all residents. Deadline 10th June 2025

As James J steps down from his role of Chair of the Parish Council there are two options ahead of appointing a new chair.

1. Allow the parish council to co-opt a current member or 2). move to an election to find a new chair.

As a registered elector in the Parish you can let the council know that you wish to progress to a village election based on the current make up of the council.

We are also looking for new parish councillors so please get involved if you wish to join us, even on a trial basis from the autumn.
