James Malley

Message from the Headteacher:
I am privileged and honoured to be Therfield’s Headteacher. Every day I am impressed by the commitment and enthusiasm of students and staff to ensure that the school really does provide, “The Best for All - Excellence, Leadership, Opportunity”

In my visits to lessons I've been delighted by the high quality teaching and learning I've observed and am impressed that th

e students at Therfield are rising to my challenge that they have impeccable manners and are always polite and courteous. The school has achieved excellent academic results at GCSE and A Level over recent years. This has included GCSE results which continue to exceed national expectations with a value added measure score for student progress of well over 1000 (the national benchmark) as well as AS and A2 results that are in the top 25% of the whole country. As a staff group we are committed to ensuring that every student can achieve their very best in all exams. At Therfield our goal is to help young people develop the skills, knowledge, qualifications, character, and ambition to become outstanding citizens able to access opportunities and life chances. We want them to become adults of whom you and we are proud; individuals who make positive contributions in the world in which they live and who become true leaders. Therfield is a family school where themes of respect, tolerance, fair play, good manners, and hard work can be seen in action every single day. I write a blog every few weeks which provides updates on what’s happening at Therfield. This is in addition to all the news and information you can access on the website. Of course the best way to really understand what a school is like is to visit it. I strongly encourage you to visit Therfield to see our great school in action. Please call the main office on 01372 818123 or email [email protected] to arrange your visit.

On Monday 8th June, our students enjoyed a visit to the Kia Oval, where they watched the Surrey Men vs Hampshire Men County Championship match between the rain showers!🏏 It was a brilliant chance to see professional sport up close, learn about the game, and experience one of cricket’s most historic grounds.

Calling all Therfield Alumni!

Are you a former student of Therfield School? Whether you are just starting university, established in your career, or enjoying a well-earned retirement, we would love to have you back!
We are hosting our annual Alumni Day on Monday 22nd June, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and we are looking for Alumni to help inspire our current Year 10 and 12 students.

Why join us? It is a fantastic way to give back to the school community and share your story. There is no preparation required—just bring your experience and advice! You’ll briefly share your journey since leaving Therfield, then join an informal networking session where students can ask you about your career path. From barristers and engineers to entrepreneurs and creatives, our students love hearing about the huge variety of paths a Therfield education can lead to.

How to get involved:
Please fill in this form to register interest: Therfield School Alumni Day 22nd June 9:00 - 12:00 – https://forms.office.com/e/fsqS5e2K1D

Chateau Trip
Thursday was a day of excursions, and all four activity groups were back together and enjoying the sunshine. The first part of day was spent at the market in the nearby town of Dinan.

The next part of Thursday's adventures was at Mont Saint Michel, a very famous landmark whose little streets were also the inspiration for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter.

The evening was the much-anticipated visit to the crêperie for galettes (a kind of savoury pancake) followed by crêpes.
