Have you ever seen such a soggy pair of owls? 💧🦉

These guys clearly did not get the “shelter” memo.

Spotted by a member of our team, this pair were making the most of yesterday’s rain (if you can describe it that way).

One of the tawnies clearly had the right idea, as this know-it-all found himself some shelter, keeping his feathers dry and fluffy. We can’t say the same for the other two, though. 🤷☔️

These guys are all on the road to rehabilitation. When they arrived, they were tiny, vulnerable balls of fluff. Now, they are almost fully grown (not so wise) owls.

Thanks to the dedication of our team and help from you, it has been possible to get them to where they are today. But they surely won’t be the last. To help other owls, like these guys, please, consider adopting an owl, today. 💚👇

This poor young fox had been hit by a car AND shot… 💔

Found collapsed and in a great deal of pain, this poor boy was extremely weak on arrival; his face was cut, his back leg stiff, and his toes fractured.

He’d been hit by a car. But, not only this, shockingly, x-rays revealed an old bullet lodged beneath the skin in his chest. Someone had shot him.

He had endured so much suffering.

Thanks to our wonderful vet, Judith, he was given safety, warmth and medicine to help with the pain. Judith then carefully bandaged his leg, so he could rest and begin recovery.

For now, he is out of harm's way. ❤️‍🩹

Life in the wild is never without risk, but for wildlife living alongside people, those risks are often multiplied. This fox has already endured more than any animal should have to, yet he continues to fight.

These animals deserve our protection, not cruelty.

A heartbreaking story of a dying mother fox💔💔

But what truly an incredible turn around! 🥰

This fox mum was taking her last few breaths.

She was suffering from severe calcium deficiency as a result of feeding her cubs.

But thanks to our rescuers speed and vets expertise she survived.

And just a day later we returned her back to her cubs, saving the lives of at least 5 tiny fox cubs!

Without your support this mum and her cubs would not have survived💚

You can support rescues like this one by adopting a fox https://wildlifeaid.org.uk/adopt/adopt-a-fox/

If there’s one thing we know about badger cubs, it’s that they are normally very, very angry! 😤

But this little guy arrived weak, dehydrated and covered in fleas and fly eggs. He was, at best, grumpy (and who can blame him?).

Despite this, however, he didn’t miss an opportunity to try and bite our vets when handled!

Nevertheless, our skilled vets were able to clean him up, rehydrate him and remove the many parasites that had been sorely depleting him, without incident.

He’s now recovering here at WAF, where he will receive all the food and care he needs to help him return to his normal rageful self!

You can help other vulnerable badger cubs like him by adopting a badger, today. 💚👇

Oh dear… have you ever seen such sad ears? 💔🦊

When he arrived at WAF, this sorrowful young cub was thin, dehydrated, his legs and abdomen were dry and sore from mange, and his right knee was severely infected from the bite wound of another animal.

You could see just how much pain he was in from the way his ears drooped.

Being in such a critical condition, he required urgent treatment to survive.

Our dedicated team immediately got to work, carefully disinfecting his wound, administering fluids and giving medication to treat the mange.

At first, he was so weak that he refused to eat, which was completely understandable, given how unwell he was. But, slowly, he began to regain his strength and started eating his meals again - a hopeful sign that the little fox cub was finally beginning to recover.

Here at WAF, he is safe, recovering, and getting better each day.

This cub was given a second chance thanks to the efforts of our amazing team. To help us help other cubs like him, please, consider adopting a fox, today! 💚👇

WHAT? A snow leopard cub, in Surrey? 🥹

Well, no, but a uniquely beautiful coat, all the same.

This young fox cub arrived dehydrated, covered in ticks, and very weak. Our vets did everything they could to make her comfortable and give her the care she needed.

At the start of her treatment, she was placed inside an incubator to allow close monitoring. However, it wasn’t long before she perked up and made her need for more space abundantly apparent!

Her transformation from arrival was incredible! She soon changed from being vulnerable and weak to the feisty little cub she was meant to be, even being called ‘mean’ by our vet, Judith (which is hard to believe, just look at that sweet face 🥰)!

This girl has a beautiful white coat, known as a “fever coat.” This can occur when a mother is unwell or stressed during pregnancy. It’s only temporary; as she grows, her colouring will gradually change and develop into her permanent adult coat.

For now, though, we can admire her uniqueness.

If you would like to help vulnerable cubs, like her, find their fury, please, consider donating to our orphan appeal. 👇💚

What’s the first rule of Flight Club? Flap. A lot. 🥰

This little guy was brought to us after suffering a deadly attack from a cat – something we see all too often, here at WAF.

Although he had no visible injuries, he wasn’t quite ready to fly just yet, so, our team stepped in to give him some encouragement and support.

In this video, you can watch him give it everything he’s got, furiously flapping his tiny wings with little success (small steps 🤷).

We’re hopeful that soon he’ll be soaring through the skies with confidence, finally showing off the flying skills he’s been working so hard to master.

Did you know? Starlings are exceptional at mimicking. They can mimic anything from bird calls and human speech to car alarms and ringtones! 📱

The more you know.

The gang have all grown up! 🦊

Remember our group of mischievous fox cubs? Listed in no particular order; Joel, Ziggy, Fink, LJ, Pascal, Ed and Eve.

Well, they have finally moved on to bigger and better things as they have recently moved to soft release! 🎉

Not too long ago, these cubs were tiny, vulnerable and in desperate need of help.

Now, they are healthy, large cubs, who are getting ready for life in the wild.
They grow up so fast.

Soft release is a gradual transition process in which the cubs are first housed in a large outdoor enclosure at a release site, allowing them to acclimatise to the natural environment before the doors are eventually opened and they are finally free to live in the wild. 🌱

These guys still love causing chaos, and we’re sure they’ll carry that same mischievous spirit with them into their new lives.

Thanks to the support of our dedicated team and most importantly, you, this group was given a second chance at life. To help us continue to care for these animals, please, consider donating today. 💚👇

This poor girl recently arrived at WAF a bit worse for wear. 🦊

She was pale, thin, weak and the skin on her tail and legs was sore and dry. She was suffering from severe mange.

Mange is, sadly, very common in foxes, but it’s usually a sign that something else is going on beneath the surface. When a fox is weak, stressed or unwell, their immune system can no longer keep the mites under control, allowing the mange to rapidly spread and take hold.

For this girl, it had spread to her legs and tail quite severely.

Our vets began treatment immediately, giving her the medication she urgently needed to fight the mange and bring her back to health.

And within just a few days, her
transformation was incredible…

Not only was she looking so much
healthier, but her true personality was beginning to return too. She became much brighter, more alert, and far more like herself again.

She’s even been spotted catching some rays, enjoying the sunshine! ☀️

With such an immense improvement, she’s scheduled for release in the coming days.

Thanks to the dedication and care of our fantastic team, this fox was given a second chance. To help others like her, please, consider adopting a fox today. 💚👇
