Leatherhead Poors Allotments, Barnett Wood Lane Leatherhead Poors Allotments situated off Barnett Wood Lane were established in 1865 for the poor people of Leatherhead.

This allotment plays a key role in the community which is why we have a Asset of Community Value (ACV) awarded by the council. Leatherhead Poors Allotments otherwise known as Barnett Wood Lane Allotments may have plots to rent. If you’d like to grow your own vegetables, fruit or flowers please contact Mole Valley District Council.

At the Leatherhead Horticultural Society Show yesterday Poors Allotments won the Meynen Award for an allotments exhibit. It was a joint effort but special thanks go to Jenny Day for putting it all together.

It’s always a good time to get an allotment plot! If you’d like to enjoy the fresh air , big blue sky and healthy exercise at Leatherhead Poors Allotments at Barnett Wood Lane please contact Mole Valley District Council on their website. Hi Friends ,

We are asking for your help by writing to the council to further secure your allotments. Please take 10 minutes to write to them as the more responses we get the greater the impact will be. The Local Plan was published on the 20th September and we have until the 7th November for comments to be submitted, but please do so by the 3rd November to give us time to consolidate everything.

Though the allotments have been removed from the Local Plan, we have been warned by local councillors that the site is not yet safe. The fields either side of Barnett Wood Lane are part of the Green Belt, but unfortunately the allotments are not.
There is another designation called ‘Local Green Space’ and these areas should be treated in a very similar way to the Green Belt. We believe the allotment site meet the Local Green Space criteria and want it included as such in the revised plan.

Please email or write to Planning Policy at the council using the details shown below. Please say in your own words why you think the allotments should be protected (e.g. value to the community, open space, mental and physical health, wildlife sanctuary etc.) and ask that the site be made Local Green Space in the Local Plan.
