Normal service over the Bank holiday, BUT our bin crews will be starting an hour earlier (6am) in this heat, please pop your bin out the night before, if you won't get it out just before 6am.

BANK HOLIDAY BINS AND HOT WEATHER ☀️

Our bin crews are working normally on Bank Holiday Monday so your bin collection day won't change next week.

With hot weather forecast, our crews will be also starting work an hour early so they can complete their rounds out of the midday sun. If you can, we would be grateful if you could put your bins out the night before, but by 6am on collection day.

You can always check which bins to put out on our bin collection day finder - see link in comments.

SSAFA selected for Armed Forces Day National Event 2026

Rushmoor Borough Council has selected SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, as the official charity partner for the Armed Forces Day National Event 2026 on 27 and 28 June.

The partnership demonstrates Rushmoor’s commitment to the whole Armed Forces community.

SSAFA will be raising awareness of the practical, emotional, and financial assistance it provides to members of the Armed Forces.

Visitors to the National Armed Forces Day Event will have the opportunity to meet SSAFA representatives, learn more about the charity’s work, and support its mission.

“We are honoured to be chosen as Rushmoor’s official charity partner for the National Armed Forces Day Event 2026," said SSAFA Chief Executive Officer Steve Shell.

"Aldershot has a proud military heritage; this partnership reflects the strong bond between the local community and the Armed Forces.

"We look forward to marking occasion alongside residents, service personnel, and veterans while continuing our work to provide lifelong support to those who serve and their families.”

Free tickets are now available for Rushmoor’s Armed Forces Day National Event 2026, hosted in Aldershot and Farnborough: www.rushmoor.gov.uk/armedforcesday

Reform asked to expel Councillor for Aldershot South

Alex Baker MP writes: "I will always work with anyone to deliver change for people in Aldershot and Farnborough.

"But I will not stand for racism, or for anyone seeking to divide our community.

"The remarks made by Ken Tranter, Reform’s newly elected councillor for Aldershot South, about “non-white persons taking over Municipal Gardens” are divisive and completely unacceptable.

"That is why I have written directly to the leader of the Hampshire Reform group calling for Councillor Ken Tranter to be expelled from both their group and the Reform Party immediately.

"Aldershot is a proud and diverse community. Attempts to divide people, or single people out because of the colour of their skin, have no place here.

"It is upsetting to see our town reported in national headlines over these kind of comments.

"We must not let this kind of politics define us. This is exactly the division and grievance I promised to stand against when I was elected."

Cracking down on illegal to***co and v**es 🚫

Hampshire Trading Standards (HTS) team continues to take action against the sale of illegal to***co and v**e products – helping to keep potentially dangerous, unregulated items off the streets and out of our communities.

Last week, HTS officers joined Hampshire Police for an operation at two retail premises. The visit led to the seizure of illegal v**es, ci******es and hand-rolling to***co. The total value of the seized items, if sold illegally, would have been £8,989.

The HTS team were also joined by George – pictured here – who played a key role in sniffing out the haul 🐾

If you suspect illegal to***co or v**e sales, please report it in confidence via the link below: www.hants.gov.uk/business/tradingstandards/contact-us
