This week is about recognising the incredible contribution unpaid carers make every single day.

Did you know across the UK 5.8 million people are caring for a family member, friend or neighbour who is older, disabled or unwell.

Many carers quietly juggle work, family life, appointments, medications, emotional support and exhaustion without ever calling themselves a “carer”.

🌟 Local ideas for June 🌟

There are some brilliant community events happening locally this month that are perfect for getting out, meeting people and enjoying the summer atmosphere.

Bookham Open Gardens takes place on 14th June, alongside Bookham Village Day on Saturday 20th June (from 12pm at The Old Barn Hall, KT23 3PG). The village day brings together 50+ stalls, games for all ages, hot food and a real ale bar, all in support of improving the Old Barn Hall.

Ashtead Rotary Village Day is on Saturday 13th June, 11.30am - 5pm at QEII Playing Fields, KT21 2BZ. Organised by Rotary Club of Ashtead, it’s one of Surrey’s largest charity events, with this year’s ‘Let’s Sing & Dance’ theme, live entertainment, and even a classic car parade.

Simple local outings like these can make a real difference and keep you connected to your community.

And if you’d like some company, you don’t have to go alone - we’re happy to come along with you, take you there, or help arrange transport so you can enjoy the day with no worries.
