We love saving you money and being a community hub in leamington - our first nine months has been a complete joy!

But at the heart of our library is a desire to use what we have and reduce waste. 🌍

So much of what we buy is used only occasionally, whether it’s a drill for one DIY job, spare chairs for a big family gathering or a hedge trimmer in the garden a couple of times each year.

So it makes sense that we share these things, right? That way we can keep them in use for longer and stop perfectly good things being thrown away. Because every new thing we buy has an environmental cost: materials, energy, manufacturing, packaging, distribution, and eventually disposal. ♻️

And the other benefits of the library? Saving money, freeing up storage space, meeting new people? They’re all good too 👍

Borrowed again! At this point, we’re wondering if our carpet cleaner even remembers where it lives 😂

We've got plenty of everyday things in our library... and sometimes you just need a simple tool to get something done.

Here's Cathy, for example, taking a garden fork away today and proving that you don't always need to own something to get a job done - you can also just borrow it. It's better for your bank account, and better for the environment.

If the recent rain has given your garden a turbo boost and things are looking a bit overgrown, then try borrowing some of our garden tools, which is what Catherine and Peter did to tame their gorgeous garden. Here's the before and after photos - though we think both are pretty impressive 😍

We took the unicycle along to Ecofest as an example of the more unusual things that we have in the library. We didn’t expect quite so many people to be brave enough to give it a go, nor that some people actually know how to use it!!! But the biggest delight of all was that someone actually decided to borrow it for the week - so off it went!
