Heritage Open Days are back in Warwickshire! The festival runs from September 11 to 20.

There is no better time to discover the remarkable history, heritage and hidden gems that make our county so special.

Set within some of the finest preserved medieval architecture in Europe, this historic veterans' almshouse has been providing a home for ex-servicemen since it was founded by Robert Dudley in 1571 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, a tradition that proudly continues today.

A wonderful morning at St Mary's Church, Cubbington where the Chairman and his three Consorts tried their hand at bell ringing before enjoying coffee, cake, and great company.

Chair said, "Many thanks to Reverend Ann Hall for the fascinating insights, warm hospitality, and engaging conversation. A thoroughly enjoyable community visit."

Another busy week has come to a close. Earlier this week, I had the privilege of presiding over a citizenship ceremony. It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome new citizens and celebrate the values that bring our communities together.

I then had the pleasure of supporting our fantastic farmers before moving on to the 10th anniversary celebrations of Shakespeare's New Place in the beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon. The working week concluded at the BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Make a Difference Awards, where I was delighted to bump into the brilliant Bobby and meet so many other inspiring people.

Chair said, "Throughout the week, I have been reminded of the dedication, kindness and community spirit that make Warwickshire such a special place. From welcoming new citizens to celebrating volunteers, farmers, and local champions, it has been a privilege to see so many people making a real difference across our communities........ now onto the weekend!"

P.S. A special public thank you to my Consort, Cllr Jennifer Taylor, for the support, dedication and encouragement you have given to Warwickshire throughout this busy week. Your commitment to our communities and your presence at so many events has been greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The Chair had the pleasure of visiting the brilliant Fitness by Bobby boxing class for children with special educational needs.

The chair said, "It was truly inspiring to see the young participants growing in confidence, learning new skills, and increasing their independence through boxing and fitness. Thank you to Fitness By Bobby for creating such a welcoming and encouraging space for these children to thrive. "🥊⭐

🎸 LOCAL LITERACY LEGENDS! 🏆

Our young readers have officially found their rhythm! This morning, I joined the Mayor of Whitnash to present medals and certificates to the brilliant children who completed the Warwickshire Libraries 'Read to the Beat' Summer Reading Challenge. 🥁📚

Over the summer holidays, hundreds of local kids smashed their goals by reading six books, proving that reading and music make the perfect mix. A massive congratulations to all our finishers—your hard work and dedication is inspiring! 🌟

🎉 Celebrating New British Citizens 🇬🇧

This morning, I with Consort Cllr Jennifer Taylor were delighted to welcome a number of new British citizens at our Citizenship Ceremony, including a resident originally from New Zealand. (Photo)

The Chair of the ceremony said:

"Today we celebrate individuals from different backgrounds and journeys who have chosen to make the United Kingdom their home. We are proud to welcome each of you as British citizens and thank you for the contribution you make to our communities. We wish you every success and happiness for the future."
