Great to get the large children’s photographs back up on display along the school fence. Actually these were taken a couple of years ago but still show the essence of what Whitnash Nursery school is about.

Constellation thinking: Taking some of the learning from the face to face gathering in the autumn to the staff team on their training day.
Thanks to for the use of their studio wall to help us expand our thinking about children’s worlds, learning, development and creativity.
Working with the staff connected up learning behaviours to images of children engaged in their explorations around the nursery school. Adding thoughts and ideas too and lots of deep reflection. Conversations continued throughout the day.
If you think this one constellation could apply to each child it not surprising how difficult it can be to keep track of it all. This is what the team at the Whitnash do so well day in and day out. It takes, skill, knowledge, experience and patience.

This and a few more posts to follow just showing some of the materials and spaces that have explored and developed by the children over the last term, some with and some not. The idea of the atelier that was physically embedded in the School last year has changed, the children have taken the open ended, self resourcing approach across all the environments with some great results.

Thanks so much to for visiting school last week. We talked about being part of the amazing project funded through by the , creativity in early years and about the very real and immediate need to expand our 2 year old provision so that we can offer more places to local families. Through the energiser project and the work with we’ve seen and evidenced the very positive impact that working creatively with 2 year olds can have on their levels of engagement, well being and self expression. The project continues this year and next with more visits planned to and lots more. By the way all photographs in this post were taken by children at the school on an old school digital camera.

Difficult to show in photos just how brilliant this space has been for the children The children have taken complete ownership of the atelier and become absolute experts in exploring their own forms of expression and creativity. Equally it has also been a space where the children are just able to be too without the pressures of having to produce anything, conform to outside forces and all those types of things. The children are able to also really be themselves expressing their inner worlds and innate creative expression. Amazing. A great demonstration of all this is that by the end of the term really didn’t have much to do in the atelier other than enjoy observing what confident, creative and capable children they have become. Thanks so much as ever to the funding from and for making it such a great year of creativity and learning. Thanks also to all the other organisations involved, it’s been a pleasure to share, discuss, reflect and learn together. Also not forgetting to thank for their partnership and support throughout the year. Looking forward to the next two years! Who knows where we will be!
