🚶‍♀️✨ THE LEAMINGTON LADIES VAWG WALK IS BACK! ✨🚶‍♀️

Ladies of Leamington, consider this your official notice that sitting at home scrolling, saying “Ooh, I might come next time” is no longer an acceptable excuse. 😌

This month’s VAWG Walk is just around the corner and we’d absolutely love to see you there.

No marathon fitness required. No hiking boots required. No ability to walk in a straight line while talking required (some of us certainly can’t manage all three at once).

The plan is simple:

☕ Meet lovely women
🚶‍♀️ Have a gentle stroll around Leamington
😂 Put the world to rights
🐕 Admire any dogs that turn up (let’s be honest, they’re the main attraction)
🍰 Reward ourselves with tea and cake afterwards because we’re adults and nobody can stop us and as my beautiful nana always said ‘Eat the damn cake!’ 🙌

Once again we’ll be finishing at the wonderful The Esther Project on Gloucester Street.

If you’ve never visited before, you’re missing a little Leamington gem. The Esther Project does incredible work supporting women in our community, providing practical help, support and a welcoming space for those who need it most. They also happen to have a fantastic charity shop packed full of bargains, meaning there’s a very real possibility you’ll arrive for a walk and leave with three books, a new dress and a cardigan you didn’t know you needed.

It’s basically community support with a side quest. 🛡️

Whether you come on your own, bring a friend, bring your mum, bring your neighbour, or bring the dog who insists on supervising your life, you’ll be made incredibly welcome.

Last month we laughed, chatted, made new friends and consumed a medically questionable amount of cake.

Let’s see if we can beat that this month.

So please do come along.

Fresh air. Good company. Tea. Cake.

Frankly, what more motivation do you need?

💙 Wednesday 10th June - 6:30pm
📍 Meet at the Royal Pump Rooms
🚶‍♀️ Ladies-only walk
🐕 Dogs are soooooo welcome
☕ Refreshments at The Esther Project afterwards
💪 No fitness level required

Tag a friend who is coming with you… 😉

And if you’re thinking, “I won’t know anyone…”

Neither did most of the women who came the first time.

Now they won’t stop talking to each other. ❤️

🚔 Police Activity Update – Buckley Road & Clare Close

Leamington Spa Safer Neighbourhood Team executed a drugs warrant this morning at an address on Buckley Road as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related harm in the community. A quantity of Class B cannabis has been seized.

Following this, while conducting reassurance patrols and leaflet drops in the surrounding area, officers identified a separate property on Clare Close that raised further concerns. Boarding at the address appeared to have been removed and the address had some concerns around drug supply.

Officers attended and forced entry to ensure the safety of the premises and any potential persons inside. Inside, they discovered a previous cannabis grow that had already been dismantled.

We remain committed to proactively identifying and disrupting drug-related activity. Thank you to members of the public for your continued support - your information helps us keep our communities safe.

📞 If you have concerns about drug activity in your area, please report it to us via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

☀️ YOUR DOG DOES NOT NEED A WALK IN THIS HEAT. ☀️

They need to stay alive.

We are seeing far too many dogs being dragged around parks, pavements and fields in temperatures that can KILL them.

Let’s be blunt.

By the time your dog is collapsing, vomiting, unable to stand, drooling excessively or struggling to breathe… the damage is already happening.

Heatstroke is not “a bit overheated.”
Dogs DIE from this - Dogs have died in LEAMINGTON from heatstroke!

And even the ones that survive can suffer organ damage for the rest of their lives.

Your dog panting heavily is not funny.
It is not them “loving the sunshine.”
It is their body desperately trying not to overheat.

If you are sweating in shorts and a T-shirt, why are you forcing an animal wearing a fur coat to walk on boiling pavements?

NO dog has ever died from missing one walk.
Dogs HAVE died because owners ignored the heat.

So please stop:

❌ Marching dogs around retail parks
❌ Throwing balls until dogs collapse
❌ Taking dogs on walks in midday sun
❌ Walking dogs on scorching pavements
❌ Assuming water alone prevents heatstroke
❌ Leaving dogs in cars — even for 2 minutes.

If it is hot enough that YOU are uncomfortable — it is too hot for dogs to exercise safely.

Walk them at sunrise.
Walk them late evening.
Or don’t walk them at all for one day and use enrichment toys and ideas off the internet.

Because we can promise you this:
The guilt of skipping a walk lasts minutes.
The guilt of carrying your dog into an emergency vets surgery lasts forever. 🐾

(*And before the Tesla owners start writing essays in the comments 😅 yes… we know your dogs are sat in ‘Pet Mode’ with air con, mood lighting and probably watching Netflix. We’re not talking about you.🙄)
