Laurencekirk Pre-School Group Playgroup based in Laurencekirk Daily sessions for children from age 2. Currently running Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9.30-11.30am.

And that’s a wrap. We have been utterly overwhelmed by the turnout at today’s closing down sale - we were wiped out within about an hour! 🤯

It’s bittersweet to see the items leave that made our playgroup so much fun, with so many wonderful memories attached to them, but we know they will be going to good homes and hope they bring everyone many months, if not years, of joy. 🥰

The donations link will stay live for a few more days in case of any last few payments, and then we will hopefully be able to announce how much we’ve raised for our chosen local causes:

🚙 Coming to the sale tomorrow?! 🛍️

How to find us: Laurencekirk Scout Hut is located at the bottom of Charter Lane, the entrance to which is in between Blue Sky Swim Studio and Taste King Chinese Takeaway.

If you’re driving, please do not drive all the way down Charter Lane to the hut itself - there is a small free car park on the lane, just behind Blue Sky Swim Studio (circled in blue), or you can park on the High Street and walk down. Please do NOT drive down beyond this car park, as access is required to the residents who live on the lane and beyond. If you are collecting large items, please see us in the hut beforehand, and we can sort something out. 🙂

Our closing down sale is THIS SUNDAY! Here’s a preview of just some of what we need to rehome.

We have:
• books
• toys
• storage
• soft play
• craft supplies
• storage trolleys
• home corner furniture
• role play/dressing up
• baby dolls/clothes
• puzzles and games
• musical instruments
• construction toys
• loose parts
• decorations (Christmas, Halloween)
• our filing cabinet!
• snack supplies/kitchen supplies
• outdoor resources - mud kitchens, pots and pans, sand and water toys
• active play - tunnels, ride-ons, slide

… and probably many other things we can’t think of right now! 😀

All profits are going to local, similar causes, and we’ll be able to take cash or card donations - pay what you feel!

Calling all local early years settings, childminders and families! Save the date and spread the word about our closing down sale - EVERYTHING must go!

All profits from the sale will be donated to local causes, and there are no set prices - pay as you feel.

And that’s a wrap!

Today was our last (emotional!) day of playgroup before closing permanently. We’d like to thank each and every person and group who has helped support us over our 53 years and contributed in any way, whether that be joining the committee, volunteering or donating.
We are sad to come to an end but will look back on our time with fond memories and wish everyone the best of luck going forward.

***IMPORTANT UPDATE***

It is with the deepest regret that due to limited uptake in numbers, Laurencekirk Pre-School Group will close permanently at the end of February.

The group has been running for over 50 years so this will be a big loss to the community.

The current enrolment of children needed to cover both wages and hut fees are insufficient and our outgoings are exceeding our income.

We would like to advise that our planned last day of operation will be Friday 27th February 2026.

Please keep an eye on the page for information about our closing down sale for all our resources. Date to be confirmed.

*URGENT* 🚨

We are sorry to be the bearers of bad news, but we have held our latest committee meeting and the future is not looking great for our group.
We are currently running at a loss and do not have enough children registered to be able to meet costs like hall hire and wages.
This is a plea to everyone to ask if you can spread word of us to anyone who might be interested in taking up a place on one of our sessions.

If we are unable to raise numbers, then unfortunately it looks like we may have to close the group in the near future. This will be a huge loss to the community as we have been running for over 50 years. We are a fabulous group that allows parents a bit of a break, whilst also helping prepare their children for either full time nursery or school.

We appreciate all the support our families have given us in the past during all our fundraising events, but without enough children then it is an ongoing struggle.

We do not receive any outside funding and are therefore solely reliant on session fees and fundraising to cover all of our costs.

Thankyou for reading our cry for help and here's hoping we can remain open and serve the community for many years yet!

Are you looking to help your child build their skills and practice getting ready for big school or full time nursery?

Could you do with a couple of hours break to get things done or practice a hobby?

Here at Laurencekirk Pre-School Group we provide a secure, happy and caring environment where children can have fun and learn at their own pace through play. This helps boost their confidence and, as a result, their learning.

We now have spaces available on our Monday, Wednesday and Friday sessions 9:30-11:30 and would love to welcome some new faces!
