The Hall improvements are finished - Members of Lauderdale Scout Group, together with representatives from local organisations including Lauder in Bloom and the Lauder Historical Society, gathered on Sunday 30 August to celebrate the completion of the project.

The newly refurbished hall was formally opened by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Kathy Weir, who also unveiled a commemorative plaque, cut the ribbon and even cut a special cake to celebrate the occasion.

The extension has provided a much larger commercial-style kitchen, opening up new possibilities for private parties and community events, as well as two new storage areas for Scouts' equipment.

The main hall has also been given a new solid wood gym floor, providing a hard-wearing and versatile space for games, activities and Scout sessions, as well as potential dance and exercise classes.

Elsewhere, the building has received a fresh coat of paint and the leaking flat roofs have been replaced, addressing long-standing maintenance issues and helping secure the future of the hall.

building works were supported by grants funded by the UK and Scottish Governments and administered by Scottish Borders Council, with decisions made through the Place Partnership Panel, Youth Local Action Group and Local Action Group.
Additional funding was secured from the National Lottery Community Fund specifically towards the replacement of the hall floor.

We’re pleased to be growing our Lauderdale Squirrel Drey 🐿️

Squirrels is the youngest section of Scouts for children aged 4–6. We meet from 3–4pm on Fridays during term time, with a programme of games, crafts, and outdoor activities designed to build confidence, independence and friendships.

We now have space for new members. If you have a 4–6 year old who would like to come along and try Squirrels, we’d love to hear from you.

Does anyone know Sonne Runciman ? She had the winning Duck, in last weekends duck race but I’ve had no response to text / voice mails left!

Thanks to everyone who bought ducks for this year’s race, last night at the Fancy dress saw the last ducks sold.

Remember if you can come along and support the event Friday 31st July - 2pm, behind Thirlestane Castle.
