Today marks the start of Volunteers Week 2026 and we want to say a massive THANK YOU 🤩 to all our members.

Every Tuesday they give up their time to train hard and practice their clinical skills.

They then volunteer hundreds of hours every year to provide medical cover at the different events going on in and around our wee borough. Many travel quite some distance to volunteer at the larger regional events. With a couple needing a plane ride for their commute! 🏍️🛫

We cannot over state how much their care, compassion and complete dedication to the provision of a life saving voluntary service is valued , appreciated and absolutely admired. They are amazing. 🤗

Beyond proud to be part of this team in green. 💚

The Larne Yins put the hours in this week covering the May Fair in Ballyclare each day and working as part of the team at the Tribute Music Festival in Carrickfergus.

The weather picked up as the week went on and we ended Sunday night in style rocking out to fabulous music on the hottest day of the year so far.

The sun has set on another North West 200 week.

Members of Larne Unit travelled to the north coast and joined hundreds of other volunteers from across St John NI and the many other partner agencies. They gave up so much of their time throughout the week, working together under the sometimes challenging circumstances that such a world renowned bike race can present.

Our members volunteer their time for this huge event year after year for many varied reasons...

🏍️ The thrill of the screaming engine as a bike whizzes past your post.

🙋🏼‍♂️Catching a glimpse of their favourite rider.

🤤 The smell of hot brakes and clutch at the corners.

🥳 The atmosphere from the thousands of spectators.

🌊 Just a love of being at the north coast.

Whatever their reasons they all share the same desire…

⛑️To be there to keep people safe and help anyone in need of medical assistance.

💚 They all care.

And we thank them so much for putting themselves through all the months of training and donning the uniform for so many hours each duty to facilitate not just this busy week but all the events that go on throughout the year. They really are appreciated and their service is highly valued.

As a unit we send our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Czech rider Kamil Holan who tragically lost his life during Thursday’s race. Rest in peace.

🏍️ Our petrol heads may have just got back from helping provide Emergency Responder cover each day at the Cookstown 100 races, but that doesn’t mean they rest until the North West 200!
Nope, tonight they were practicing more motorbike scenarios, keeping their skills well rehearsed in preparation for the next big racing event. 🏍️🏁

An amazing atmosphere at Inver Park as we provided medical cover for the final match of the season.

A surprise entrance as the Gibson Cup was delivered by RAF helicopter for presentation to Champions Larne Football Club.

For this week’s training LeeAnne had us refreshing our skills using the Kendrick Extrication Device.

Training like this is vital in keeping our skills up to date and our clinical standards high.

Should anyone ever need our care, we’ve been training for this.

A (mostly) bright 🌦️ and busy day was had at Ballyclare Rugby Football Club’s Mini Rugby Festival 🏉

Emergency responders from Larne and Carrickfergus adult units, supported by Larne Cadets, teamed up for the day.

As hundreds of little rugby stars took to the pitches, our volunteers were on site providing first aid and ambulance cover.

Michelle has made her team debut as emergency ambulance crew tonight at a chilly Larne Football Club.

It’s great to see our volunteers putting themselves out for learning more skills and serving their community providing medical cover at local and regional events.
Here’s to many more ⚽️💚
