🙌🏻Ballygally Update🙌🏻
ni has contacted to say that yesterdays’ resample of Ballygally meets the bathing water standards for indicator bacteria.

The rise in bacteria may have been caused by the heavy rain we have been experiencing. We would always advise that you do not enter the sea for at least 48 hours after heavy rainfall. 🌧️🌧️

Good hygiene is always recommended, washing hands and face after being in the sea and try not to ingest any water. 🚿

DAERA will continue to monitor the bathing waters until 15th September 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Today we commemorate 82 years since the D-Day landings, the historic Allied invasion of Normandy during the Second World War and still recognised as the largest seaborne invasion in history.

The success of D‑Day played a crucial part in securing protection from invasion and we will never forget the sacrifices of those who gave their service across our nation.

Hot weather and busy beaches can be disorientating for younger children.

It’s not uncommon for little ones to get lost in crowds, but these tips can help reunite you if you do become separated:

Take a photo on arrival so you have an up-to-date reference to show authorities (and a handy reminder of what they were wearing) 📸

Agree a meeting point if you get lost 📍

Use beach wristbands and write your contact number on them so you can be called and reunited if you get separated 🙋

Make sure that everyone in the group knows to call 999 if they’re in trouble 📞

Wristbands can be ordered from our web shop for free. Get yours here: bit.ly/HMCGwristbands

Earlier today the team was tasked to a person with a lower leg injury, arriving quickly on scene both coastguard and the volunteer crew of Larne RNLI worked together to stabilise the injury, due to the location of the casualty and the tide due to turn coastguard asked for the casualty to be evacuated by lifeboat onto a nearby sandy part of the beach with easier access to the ambulance.

We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.

For any emergency on or near the coast call 999 and ask for coastguard

Remember our waters are still cold even though air temperatures are warm
If using any kind of craft, paddle or motor on water or fishing from the side remember wear your life jacket or PFD these are life savers.
