According to a new study, as many as one in four parents have skipped a meal because they can’t afford to buy food.

The Tesco Food Collection has now come to an end for another year and we want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that has either donated their time or some food to your local foodbank. We understand that it can be hard at this time of year to afford extra items, especially additional food around the Christmas period but we are astonished by just how much has been donated.

Please remember all food collected locally, feeds local families.

Merry Christmas and please remember we are still open Friday 22nd, 29th December & 5th January.

Following a our recent collection at Tesco, Lesmahagow - The total weight of food donated over the three days came to 1194.9 Kilos, and the value to date came to £1088.88!!
Well done to all our volunteers, to the Tesco staff who were supportive as always, but most of all to the local people who once again donated with great thoughtfulness and kindness.

2067 people have been fed by the foodbank. (1153 Adults and 914 Children).

How a foodbank works

- All food given out by foodbanks is donated.

- Food is sorted and stored

- Professionals from statutory and voluntary organisations identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher.

- Clients receive emergency food: Clients bring their voucher to a foodbank centre where it can be exchanged for four days supply of emergency food.

- Clients are signposted to further support
