Friends of Brooklands Park The Friends of Brooklands are a local community group, interested in the regeneration of Brooklands Park in Worthing.

Anyone can be a member, as long as you come with a positive attitude towards improvement, growth and regeneration!

🌿🦋 THE BROOKLANDS PARK NATURE TRAIL! 🐝🌳

We’re delighted to say that all 20 Nature Trail posts are now installed around Brooklands Park and the Spring / Summer wildlife plaques are in place! 🎉🌿

Grab your walking shoes, bring the family and see how many you can find as you explore the park. 👀

Along the trail you’ll discover some of the wonderful birds, insects, plants, trees and other wildlife that call Brooklands Park home — from kingfishers and kestrels to honeybees, butterflies, dragonflies and even some of the park’s less obvious residents. 🦢🐞🦋🐝

📱 Scan the QR code on each plaque to discover more about that species, including interesting facts and information about where you might spot it in the park.

Visit the species page on the website and click the “I Have Seen This” button — we’d love to see which of our park residents are being spotted the most!

🍂 And the trail is about to change...
The Nature Trail has been designed to change with the seasons. We will start swapping the Spring / Summer plaques for our Autumn / Winter Nature Trail soon, with a whole new collection of wildlife to discover.

We’re working on adding even more Nature Trail activities, puzzles, quizzes and Outdoor Explorer challenges to make exploring the park even more fun.

We’ve been made aware of an unfortunate incident in the park last weekend. A local resident was walking around the lake, without a dog, when she passed someone walking 2 dogs. One of the dogs unexpectedly bit her on the leg, resulting in several puncture wounds which required a visit to A&E.
We don’t know what caused the dog to react in this way, dogs can react unexpectedly for many different reasons and thankfully, incidents like this are not something we hear about very often at Brooklands.
What was particularly disappointing, however, was that the person with the dog did not check that the lady was okay and was very dismissive.
Accidents and unexpected incidents can happen, but please, if your dog does hurt or frighten someone, stop and make sure they are alright. A little kindness and concern can make a big difference.
Brooklands Park is a shared space for everyone, dog walkers, families, children, runners, wildlife watchers and those simply enjoying a walk around the lake. 💚
Please be considerate, be responsible and look out for one another so that we can all continue to enjoy our lovely park. 🌳🐾

🌿🦋 Welcome to the Brooklands Park Nature Trail 🐝🌳

Come and explore the amazing wildlife that calls Brooklands Park home! Along the trail you’ll discover a variety of nature plaques showcasing some of the wonderful birds, insects, plants and wildlife that can be spotted around the park.

The trail is designed to change with the seasons 🍂☀️
Our current Spring / Summer 2026 plaques are now being installed, and in October the plaques will be swapped to highlight the incredible wildlife of Autumn / Winter. In 2027, even more fascinating species will be added for you to discover.

There will be 20 trail posts around the park in total, with the first few already in place and the rest coming very soon 👀

RHS award-winning show garden relocated to Brooklands Park in Worthing

Lovely to see our swan family thriving at Brooklands Park — the cygnets are getting bigger every day! 🦢💛

Dad is doing a great job keeping a watchful eye and being very protective of his new family as they explore the water together, though sometimes a bit too protective. The third swan that was at the lake was getting a hard time by the dad, as there was a concern that it would be injured and become too vulnerable, Wadars came and moved the swan to another location.

A beautiful reminder of the wonderful wildlife that calls the park home. 🌿✨

A huge thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who came along on Saturday to help plant the incredible RHS Malvern Spring Festival show garden called "Pressed in Time: Nature’s Memory’, The garden was very kindly donated to the park by talented garden designer Lora Peneva (Urban Greenery) who won a RHS Silver-Gilt medal for the garden and is from the Worthing area💚

The garden already looks absolutely amazing, and we can’t wait to watch it grow and flourish over the coming months.
As the garden establishes, it will provide an important source of food and habitat for our Brooklands bees and other vital pollinators, helping to support local biodiversity and wildlife. 🐝🌸

The park ranger team will be helping to water and maintain the garden, while we continue supporting it to keep it blooming beautifully.

If you would like to get involved and help care for the garden, we would love to hear from you!
