Repairs & Maintenance Steering Group - Social Media Summary
πŸ”§ Repairs & Maintenance Steering Group Update | September 2026
Our tenant representatives met with Council Housing officers to review repairs performance, damp and mould work, complaints learning, service standards and resident priorities. The group also reviewed progress against actions from previous meetings and challenged officers on areas where improvements are still needed.
βœ… Key updates
β€’ The regulatory repairs backlog has reduced significantly, with outstanding jobs falling from 936 to 401.
β€’ Plumbing jobs reduced from 139 to 119 through targeted scheduling.
β€’ Emergency repairs performance remains around 99%.
β€’ The group reviewed complaints learning, service quality and how resident feedback is helping shape improvements.
πŸ—£οΈ You Said - We Did
You said: Repairs reports need to be easier to understand.
We did: Added trade keys and clearer explanations to performance reports so residents can better understand progress.
You said: Repair quality is just as important as repair speed.
We did: Agreed that future KPI reports will include resident feedback, complaints learning and quality information alongside performance figures.
You said: The repairs booklet should be easy to find online.
We did: Re-opened the action until tenant feedback is gathered and a working website link is available.
You said: Phone system options should use plain language.
We did: Reviewed the proposed phone script and agreed to gather tenant feedback before it is finalised.
You said: Residents should be consulted about changes affecting their estates.
We did: Raised concerns about fencing proposals and estate issues with officers and requested clear follow-up and resident consultation.
πŸ’¬ Resident influence continues to drive service improvements and all actions are being monitored through the RMS action tracker.

Thanks to everyone who attended the wonderful Council Housing Funday! It was great to see so many of our residents from across the district!

The day included classic games like tin can alley, bouncy castles, residents groups raising funds and engagement from a wide range of services!

A fantastic way to celebrate council housing!

Here's some pics and the community engagement manager Rachael telling Beyond Radio about the work of the Tenants Voice who are integral in making these days happen!
