🔥 INCIDENT 04/06/26 - 00:51AM 🔥

Hornby were mobilised to take over operating the Command Unit (CU) at a building fire in Fleetwood 🚒

On arrival the crew were tasked with organising relief pumps, digitalising incident ground paperwork, sending messages to our control room and liaising with other emergency services on scene ✅

LFRS have 2 Command Units, with one stored at Fulwood Fire Station and the other at Blackburn Fire Station - whilst our Command Support Unit (CSU) is a smaller vehicle, the operating procedures and the software used are the same 👨‍🚒

Hornby were released from the incident and returned back to station after approximately 11 hours

An incident activity update over the last 48 hours..

🚒 STANDBY DUTIES - 10:53AM 🚒

Hornby were required to provide standby duties at Lancaster Fire Station due to depletion of cover

🔥 INCIDENT 02/06/26 - 14:39PM 🔥

Hornby were mobilised to a multiple vehicle RTC in the Ireby area

Crews worked alongside other emergency services to make the scene safe 👨‍🚒

🔥 INCIDENT 03/06/26 - 11:41AM 🔥

Hornby were mobilised to a hay bale on fire in the Lowgill area alongside our colleagues from Carnforth Fire Station 🚒

Crews used approximately 1500 litres of water to break up and extinguish the fire 💦

👨‍🚒 Hornby’s May 2026 Round-Up 👨‍🚒

May has carried on with the busy theme for the crew at Hornby Fire Station - we have had 26 mobilisations, taking us around Lancashire and North Yorkshire 🚒

Some of the incidents we attended:
🚗 Road Traffic Collisions (RTCs)
🔔 Automatic Fire Alarms
🏠 Building fires
🌳 Fires in the Open
🚒 Standby Duties
💍 Ring Removals

In addition to the above incidents, the crew have attended a veterans event in Lancaster, been involved in multiple local events, achieved an impressive 2000 followers on Facebook and one of our staff received their 20 years service medal - all while achieving in excess of 98% availability! 💪

👩🏼‍🚒 RECRUITMENT IS NOW OPEN - Could YOU be what Hornby Fire Station are looking for?👩🏼‍🚒

🔥 Are you looking for a new challenge that fits around your day job and gives back to your local community?

🔥 Do you live or work within a 5 minute drive from Hornby Fire Station?

🔥 If you have said yes to the above, have you ever thought about becoming an On-Call Firefighter?

Our On-Call Firefighters are fully trained to work on the front line, saving lives and protecting our communities 🚒

You will be ready to respond in a 5 minute time scale to your station for an emergency call out. You will receive full training when you join us and will attend weekly training nights at your station 🚒

On-call firefighters receive a retaining fee and receive payment for various aspects of the work they carry out for example attending incidents and training sessions 🚒

🔥 INCIDENT 30/05/26 - 09:08AM 🔥

Hornby were on their way to provide standby cover at Preston Fire Station when we were ‘fire flashed’ to a shed fire in the Wesham area 🚒

Crews from Hornby and Fulwood Fire Station worked together to stop the fire spread, extinguish the fire which involved multiple sheds and trees and cut back all damaged areas👨‍🚒

After a long and sweaty incident, both crews made up their equipment and were released ☀️

Shortly after being released, Hornby and Penwortham Fire Station were mobilised to a fire alarm sounding in the Preston area - this was confirmed to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes 🍳

Hornby returned back to station at approximately 16:30pm and were available for further calls throughout the night

Currently there is a powercut affecting part of Hornby, including the fire station ⚡️

Electricity Northwest have given an ETA of 1AM for normal service to resume ⏰

The crew are working behind the scenes and continue to provide fire cover to our local area 👨‍🚒

Hornby had a busy, and very sunny Tuesday! ☀️

Standby Duties (Lancaster Fire Station) - 11:23am ✅

Incident - 12:54pm - Multiple vehicle RTC - Bentham & Hornby 🚒

Incident - 15:33pm - Fire in the open, Wennington 🔥

For drill night, the crew made the most of the sunny weather and were out practising their pumping from open water skills 💦

👨‍🚒 DRILL NIGHT👨‍🚒

For last night’s drill session, the crew were focusing on the foam induction system carried on fire appliances within Lancashire 🚒

The crew discussed certain incident types when this would be beneficial and went through setting up and using the system - this is part of our ‘maintenance of skills’, which is recorded electronically after each session 💪

To finish the night, some of the crew were practising ‘time critical recuses’ using the 13.5m ladder - this included walking down casualties rescued from within a building 🪜

The crew were delighted with your support, questions about recruitment and involvement from you all - we were definitely kept busy from start to finish! 🥳

We unfortunately had to cut the day short as we were required to provide standby cover at Lancaster Fire Station due to an ongoing incident 🚒

Yesterday we celebrated FF Midgley’s 20 year service at Hornby Fire Station 🥳

Station Manager Steele attended our weekly drill night to celebrate with Matthew and present him with his LSGC 20 year medal 🏅

Congratulations and thank you for your continued commitment from all the crew at N16 👨‍🚒
