πŸ“ŸπŸ”” SHOUT! πŸ””πŸ“Ÿ

The lifeboat volunteers were paged at 7:42pm yesterday evening after a yacht was reported to be on the rocks in Plockton.

The lifeboat launched just after 7:50pm and made best speed towards the area. Once they arrived on scene, they found the yacht on the rocks with 2 persons on board. The lifeboat quickly made contact with the casualty vessel to ensure nobody was injured.
Due to the rapidly falling tide and the position of the boat, there was no way to free the stricken vessel. After speaking with the yachts crew, they decided to come off the boat for safety reasons, and await the incoming tide to see if they could float free. Therefore the lifeboat was stood down and returned to Kyle.

It was decided that due to the possibility of unseen/unknown damage to the yacht, and the risk to the yachts crew when the yacht floated free, that the lifeboat should return to oversee the situation. Therefore shortly before midnight the lifeboat launched again and returned to Plockton.
Luckily the operation went well, with no injuries and no major damage to the vessel, therefore the lifeboat was again stood down and returned to the lifeboat station at 2:30am.

The Lord-Lieutenant, Joanie Whiteford was delighted to meet Kyle Lifeboat RNLI volunteers, Morag and Elaine in the RNLI shop on the pier and to have the opportunity to thank them for their selfless volunteering. The income generated in the RNLI shops raises the vital funds the RNLI needs to operate.
