Friends of the Moor are a group of Knutsford volunteers working to promote and enhance the Moor for leisure and recreation.

United Utilities are undertaking a fish removal at the Moor Pool today. The fish are being relocated to other watercourses ahead of major works to the Moor Pool to remove sediment with the aim of improving water quality.

Moor Pool Water Quality Improvement Project

As part of the Cheshire wastewater programme, United Utilities is planning to carry out a project to improve the water quality of Moor Pool adjacent to Moor Park in Knutsford.

The proposal is to do this by the removal of sediment from Moor Pool and the construction of a new Sewer Pipeline tunnel from the existing pumping station adjacent to Moor Pool all the way to the Wastewater Treatment works off Mobberley Road.

United Utilities is now able to share plans for these upcoming works and explain how this will be carried out, what benefits the work will bring, and what impact the construction may have on the local area.

You can meet the team on Wednesday 10th December. The project team will be available to chat to residents with concerns and questions about the work we have planned at The Moor.

They will be available at Scout Hut from 3pm until 7pm.

Come along to the Moor at 10:30 for our autumn litterpick. We’ll be meeting at the picnic tables and first raising the 2025 Green Flag before spreading out across the Moor and Barncroft to search for any litter. Just bring your own gloves.

This Sunday it's our autumn litterpick and green flag raising!

Join us on the Moor (at the picnic tables) at 10:30am on Sunday to lend a hand and help ensure the Moor is kept in tip-top condition.

This Sunday, at 10am, we’ll be planting bulbs on the Moor and Barncroft.

Meet us at the picnic tables on the Moor, or by the railway end of the Barncroft to lend a hand.

We’ll be planting a range of different flowers on both sites to brighten them up for residents both human and pollinator!
