The Healthy Homes Project

The Healthy Homes Project The Healthy Homes Projects is a platform for home owners to take action and demand safer housing. Quality and safety costs.

In a country that used to be synonymous with the manufacture of quality products, it is shocking to listen to the debate over the causes of the Grenfell Tower fire. Whether the final outcome will rest heaviest on the quality of materials, how they were installed or a combination of both is yet to be seen. Such stories sit uncomfortably with a nation that has a long history of manufacturing safe, r

eliable, quality products. ‘The long list’ of British-manufactured quality products doesn’t really exist anymore. Britain’s cable industry was once thriving, but there are now just a handful of UK cable companies left. The demise of the industry has been variously blamed on substandard cable product and an overall decline in UK manufacturing linked to the country joining the EU. Competitiveness, when safety matters, shouldn’t be limited to price. Construction Products Regulation is the greatest opportunity to bring about safer cable products. The cable supply chain and Regulator are failing to understand that adequate isn’t enough. The UK Regulator must stipulate a minimum requirement of Euro Class for CPR – Cca; and a robust programme of market surveillance for CPR compliance must be established and adopted as best practice throughout the construction and building industry for safer buildings in the UK. The Healthy Homes Project was set up to give you a voice and take the issue to Goverment to change the way the buildings are constructed and made safe for you.

I thank God for the gift of time and, at the same time, I learned not to waste it by saying “NO”.

Saying “NO” is not selfish; it’s an act of self-preservation and a way to focus on what truly matters. There’s no need to explain, justify, or apologise.

Exactly one year ago, I left the hospital after many days spent in intensive care, which taught me the true value of time and life. That period—without Christmas, New Year’s ... Read more

https://www.bragagni.uk/news/featured-panel-speaker-at-the-cru-wire-cable-2024-conference-in-amsterdam/ Featured panel speaker at the CRU Wire & Cable 2024 Conference in Amsterdam
In continuation of many years of tradition, the CRU Wire & Cable 2024 Conference, held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from 24-26 June 2024, brought together the international wire and cable community for a frank exchange of views and perspectives on the wire and cable industry. The conference primarily discussed the crucial role of wire and cable manufacturers in shaping the future of power generation, renewable energy, electrification, and the evolution of power grids.

I was invited as a featured speaker on the panel “Europe’s Urbanisation and Net Zero Economy Drive. What are the opportunities for subsea and land interconnections, and the use of HV, EHV and HVDC cables.” I shared with the participants my experience of transforming Tratos into a leader in the cable manufacturing industry helping other companies towards achieving net zero goals and transitioning to renewables and smart grid connections.

I stressed Europe’s rapid urbanization and commitment to a net-zero economy create substantial opportunities for connecting underwater and land-based energy infrastructure using high-voltage (HV), extra-high-voltage (EHV), and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables. These technologies can help meet the growing energy needs, integrate renewable energy sources, improve market competition, and lower energy prices. However, challenges such as high investment costs, complex permitting processes, public acceptance, and grid integration must be addressed to realise these opportunities fully.

At the same time, I emphasised the point of view from Tratos, that to overcome challenges we need to focus on another source of energy: fusion, a promising alternative energy source that aims to replicate the process that powers the sun and stars. Fusion promises limitless energy and recent technological advances have opened the prospects of making the nuclear fusion experiment closer to its commercialisation and more fit to the actual needs for energy.

I am proud of my legacy at Tratos, an innovation-driven company, which is well-positioned to continue its leadership on sustainability matters and innovation in the cable-making industry. By supplying superconductors to ITER, Tratos is ready to build on its achievements and continue driving positive change in the cable-making industry to revolutionize the energy sector.

Why this petition matters

Started by
Maurizio Bragagni
To: The Right Honourable James Cleverly, MP, Secretary of State for the Home Department
Subject: Automatic Granting of British Citizenship to EU Citizens with Settled and Pre-Settled Status
We, the undersigned, respectfully call upon the Home Office and the UK Government to enact an immediate policy change to grant British citizenship to all European Union citizens currently residing in the United Kingdom under Settled or Pre-Settled Status. This petition advocates for the rights of these individuals to be recognised through the automatic and immediate grant of British citizenship without the imposition of any administrative fees or procedural complexities.
Background:
The withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union has placed European citizens living in the UK in a position of uncertainty and insecurity regarding their future in the country they call home. Recognising their invaluable contributions to the fabric of our society, economy, and cultural diversity, it is both just and necessary to offer a stable and secure solution.
Proposal:
Immediate and Automatic Grant of British Citizenship: We propose that all EU citizens who have successfully obtained Settled or Pre-Settled Status be automatically granted British citizenship. This action would solidify their rights and status within the UK, offering them the security and permanence they deserve.
Waiver of Administrative Fees and Simplification of the Process: Recognizing the financial and emotional toll of the current citizenship application process, we call for waiving all administrative costs for these applicants and simplifying the citizenship acquisition process. This step is essential to ensure the transition is accessible to all, regardless of economic background.

Justification:
Economic Contributions: EU citizens have significantly contributed to the UK’s economy, enriching our communities and sectors.
Social Integration: Many EU citizens have formed deep ties within the UK, including family, employment, and community engagement.
Moral Responsibility: It is imperative to provide stability and reassurance to our European neighbours who have made the UK their home.

Conclusion:
Granting British citizenship to EU citizens with Settled and Pre-Settled Status is a step towards acknowledging their contributions and rights. It ensures they remain a valued part of our society without the looming fear of future policy changes affecting their lives. This act of inclusivity and fairness will reinforce the United Kingdom’s commitment to being a diverse and welcoming nation.
We urge you to consider this proposal with the urgency and seriousness it warrants to enact change that will positively affect the lives of many and the fabric of our nation.
