The Old Quarry Adventure Playground is a free open access play facility for children and young people from ages 5 - 19 from Knottingley and the surrounding areas.

We heard that it is…
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION WEEK!

Here at The Addy, we have 10 regular, incredible volunteers who give so much of their own time to our little charity. Without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we do on sessions for our Addy children and community, in Warwick and beyond

Each volunteer, volunteers their precious time, week in week out. From helping out in the Addy cafe, greeting families on our sessions to joining in with playing games with the children, and roasting marshmallows around the fire to name but a few!

For this we are truly grateful and appreciate you all.

You are all part of our Addy family! Thank you to each and every one of you! ❤️

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Every week is a positive mental health week at the Addy and this glorious half term has been no exception!

Our Addy babes, from tots to teens....

have been running and climbing exploring the site, keeping physically active....they'll sleep on a night!

Splashing around in a pop up pool, being in the present, not thinking of school.
Not thinking of conflict, all smiles no scowls, laughing at staff as we hunt for spare towels.

They've connected with others, with their friends old and new, no phones, no computers but plenty to do!

They've sold cakes and ice creams made with love and such care, raising funds for a trip for others to share.

Giving to others comes easy you see, when you grow up with the Addy it’s just who you'll be.

They've been crafting and playing and learning new skills, through laughter, through risk and through chasing those thrills!

Thankyou to everybody who supports us to keep providing such a wonderful service!

This incredible trio have raised over £100 towards the residential pot!

They are continuing their sales this afternoon on Run Riot selling the most delicious ice creams, so if you if are joining us for Run Riot today please bring change with you and purchase an ice cream!!

The Addy Bake Sale!

Tuesday 26th May at Home-Ed Play
Wednesday 27th May at Wild Tots

Buns, cakes and sweet treats we be sold from our bake sale stand next week on these sessions by our youngsters, to raise funds towards their coach and food for their summer residential

Please bring some change with you if you can and donate to this lovely lot 🙂

No Revvis, E-bikes or E-scooters on our sessions, ordinary push-bikes are fine to travel to our sessions but must be kept in the car park.
We suggest bringing your own bike lock if you are bringing one down

Please stop fly-tipping on our site.

During routine site checks, our staff are regularly finding bin bags of rubbish and dog faeces being thrown over our fences.

Please remember that this is a children’s playground used frequently by local families and groups. Our team works hard to thoroughly check and prepare the premises before every session, but they should not have to clear up waste left by others.

We kindly ask everyone to respect the space, dispose of rubbish responsibly, and help us keep the playground safe, clean, and welcoming for all children and visitors.

H O L I D A Y S !!

Our school holiday sessions are bursting with lots of fun activities. And don’t forget… all the usual favourites will be out every session, including our zipline, jumping tower, fire pit, new trampoline, big swing, and loads of outdoor adventures to keep everyone active and smiling! 🔥🎢🌿

We will be closed Monday 25th May (Bank Holiday)

TO OUR PARENT & CARERS

We are really enjoy having older children and young people attend our sessions. To help us continue running things effectively, we will be offering our Tuesday sessions specifically for younger children where older children can attend .

Tuesday sessions will be from ages 5–16. We have followed a similar approach in the past, and it worked very well.

On Monday, Wednesday and Fridays sessions will be for children aged 5-13 years and on Tuesday’s sessions will be for children aged 5-16 years.

We are also mindful that older children may benefit from sessions tailored more closely to their age group. If there is enough interest, we would be pleased to introduce a dedicated youth club designed specifically for young people aged 13–16 at a later date.

If this is something you feel would be beneficial, please do let us know.

Unfortunately, we have made the decision to close our Adventure Play 3:30pm-5:30pm session tomorrow - Friday 24th April due to behaviour on Wednesday evening's session.

We welcome you to discuss any issues with us that may arise from our sessions, in person at The Addy or via telephone, you may also request a call from us via our page, please do not contact our staff team via their personal accounts.

Our opening hours are 9am-6pm Monday to Friday, calls and messages made outside of these hours will be responded to during our opening days/hours.

We cannot respond to answerphone messages or Facebook messages outside of these times. A better option is always for you to come and speak to us directly here at the playground.
