Knaresborough Town Council

Knaresborough Town Council Knaresborough Town Council is a Parish Council. Knaresborough Town Council was created in 1974 as successor to the former Knaresborough Urban District Council.

Knaresborough Town Council is a Parish Council that has, like many of the large urban parishes, resolved to be known as a Town Council, which carries the right to a Town Mayor instead of a Chairman. Although it is styled as a Town Council, it has the same status in law as a Parish Council. Knaresborough is one of 731 individual parishes within the North Yorkshire Council area. The Town Council has

12 members (Councillors) with 3 Councillors representing each of the four wards in the town, Aspin and Calcutt Ward, Castle Ward, Eastfield Ward and Scriven Park Ward.

As we celebrate Volunteer Week, we want to shine a huge spotlight on every person who gives their time to help make our town such a special place.

We are so grateful to all the incredible volunteers across our town who make things happen every single day. You’re the reason Knaresborough is such a brilliant place to live, work, and enjoy - a community full of heart, energy, and generosity.

A big thank you as well to our Town Councillors - while you are elected members, you give your time, dedication, and commitment to serve our community; working to support, protect and improve our town.

And of course, an extra‑special shout‑out to The Mayor of Knaresborough’s volunteer Town Guides - your passion for sharing our history, stories, and hidden gems brings Knaresborough to life for residents and visitors alike.

Thank you to every single one of you 💛
