- Carer Additional Person Payment, a new payment for carers who look after more than one person is now available
- Scottish Carer Supplement replaces Carer's Allowance Supplement, meaning carers receive extra support more consistently and regularly
- Financial support for carers after the person they look after dies has been extended from 8 to 12 weeks

A reminder for all our tenants -

In 2026, Council tenants of Orkney Islands Council (OIC) will be invited to take part in the Tenant Satisfaction Survey. As a social landlord, we are required to carry out this survey every three years. Despite this, OIC chooses to conduct the survey every two years to ensure that we gain a better insight into our tenant’s latest views on the service.

The survey will be carried out by IBP Strategy & Research - a third party and impartial organisation that will conduct a telephone survey in February/March 2026. Our tenants should have received a letter informing them of the consultation. If you would prefer to receive a paper copy of the survey you will be able to request this. The use of an impartial third party encourages open and honest feedback and allows respondents to remain anonymous. We expect to receive the results of the survey in April 2026.

We would encourage all our tenants to take part in the Tenant Satisfaction Survey. Your feedback is valuable to us and will be used to determine which areas of the service require improvement. We will report on the results of the Tenant Satisfaction Survey in future newsletters and social media posts.
