Two Weeks to Go: The Galloway Sorceress at Broughton House

In two weeks' time, I'll be returning to Broughton House & Garden NTS to share the fascinating story of Jean Maxwell — known in local history as the Galloway Sorceress.

In 1805, Jean Maxwell stood trial in one of the more unusual cases of witchcraft, which centred on her claim to possess supernatural powers.

Drawn from contemporary accounts and surviving records, this storytelling evening explores the people, beliefs and consequences that influenced the events which followed.

Broughton House: A Good Old-Fashioned Ghost Hunt
Friday 20th June | 9pm–3am | Kirkcudbright

'One of the best nights of the year.' That's how a guest described our very first ghost hunt at Broughton House & Garden NTS.

Guests reported unexplained voices and footsteps, moving objects, and magnetic letters shifting in a room where the CCTV had, for some unknown reason, switched off...

On the eve of the Summer Solstice, we'll be returning to this remarkable historic house for six hours of paranormal investigation..

As the summer light begins to fade, a small group of us will experience Broughton House in a way few people ever do... Hope to see there!

This is a partnership event with the National Trust for Scotland

Dumfries and Galloway! Whats Going on ?

Thrilled to be bringing our Good Old-Fashioned Ghost Hunt back to Broughton House & Garden NTS this June!

Taking place on the eve of the Summer Solstice, guests will spend six hours exploring Broughton and its many intriguing accounts — from shutters that won’t stay closed to mysterious footsteps, voices, unseen presences and more.

Delighted to be working with our friends at the National Trust for Scotland once again and, if our last event is anything to go by, this promises to be a truly memorable night!
