OUR SOLUTION TO THE DESTRUCTION OF THE FIRE VAN

We acted quickly to the bad news of the Fire van being struck and the driver seriously injured.

Two days later we bought a van locally to replace the Fire van to continue the remarkable work the volunteers are doing in one of Kharkiv’s front line communities.

Now all we need to fund is a hydraulic pump replacement, 4 all season tyres and cover the ferry and fuel costs to get it out there. Andrey, our Ukrainian friend, will then be driving it out there as soon as possible, together with masses of medical supplies.

We have spread our available funds thinly and hadn’t expected this problem, so we are now short about £1,000 to cover the additional costs.

CAN YOU HELP - THIS IS VITAL?

During the Christmas period, give a thought to those suffering in Ukraine...
Our next journey out to Kharkiv is planned for late February so we need to start collecting items asap and no later than mid-January.
We are looking for new knitted infants clothing, as one of the 5 hospitals we will be visiting is a maternity hospital. Another is a prosthetics hospital, so if anyone has an unused mobility scooter they would like to donate it would be a very welcome addition.
This time we have at least £30,000 worth of medical equipment and supplies, a large box van (which will be converted into a mobile treatment centre after delivery) and a 4x4 going to Ivan's group of volunteers who transport injured to hospitals for treatment.
You can contact me on Facebook, or directly on 07442 530716, email [email protected].
Thank you for your support.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

I’m sitting indoors writing this in the middle of the storm, looking back on three very successful days at the Kirkcudbright Arts & Crafts Trail where we raised over £1,200 in sales and donations.

With that and two very generous donations we are now fully funded for our journey out to Kharkiv, Ukraine a week from today.
It was good to talk to so many people who feel, as we do, that more must be done for the people of Ukraine. Your best wishes go out with us as we bring a little hope and happiness to those in need.

So from Iain, Eddie (the 6 foot teddy) and myself, a big thank you all for helping us reach our target and ensuring we have all we need for a successful journey.

TRIP 18 for Iain and TRIP 4 for me
SCOTLAND - UKRAINE UPDATE

Both vehicles are now fully packed, checked, serviced, new tyres etc and READY TO GO.

Myself driving the Skoda and Iain driving the Fire Van with the help of EDDIE BEAR! a 6 foot bear in passenger seat complete with his own "life letter" and passport. He is going to his new home with 4 orphans.

Leaving 05.00 on 11th August down to Harwich then off in Holland and through Germany and Poland into Ukraine for 14th. Will arrive at destination Kharkiv on 16th where we give much mobility aid to a main hospital for amputations and spinal injury. We will hand over aid to the shelter for the people there also.

We then go to a rural maternity hospital near front lines and hand over kits for mums and new baby ( similar to Babybox ). We then hand over this Fire Van to Katerina`s community 9km from front who will be able to use this to fight fires in the villages struck daily. The van and all equipment is left donated to them. We will visit with Katerina again while there.

Finally, this Skoda car donated by a lovely couple in Kirkcowan is full of NEW children`s clothes and toys and hygiene items and will be given out to the orphans I support each trip with the administration donated the car for their use in the community.
We will leave Kharkiv on 21st and start our LONG journey home by train, buses and an aeroplane ! We will arrive back evening of 23rd.

Thank you so much once again to everyone involved in this trip with donations and support.

Thank you everyone for your donations of clothes and medical supplies. We now have enough for our trip out in May, so no more needed for now.

Always in need of funds as we are taking two vehicles out in August. Will keep everyone updated here and on the website: ambulances4ukraine.com
