Whether you're already part of one of our Knit and Natter groups or enjoy stitching in your spare time, now is the perfect time to get involved in a community knitting initiative!

Our 2026 Inspire Charity Knitting Challenge – Story Snugglers, is all about bringing comfort, warmth, and a love of reading to children. To celebrate the , crafters across Notts are creating colourful, snuggly woollies designed to keep little ones cosy during bedtime stories🌙📖

We’ve already seen some brilliant snugglers from our amazing community, and we’d love to see yours next!

Would you like to take your 2D needle felting skills to the next level?

We have the course for you! Join us for Needle Felting Next Steps 2D Picture-Based

You’ll explore how to create a layered, expressive floral composition using wool, learning to blend colours, build form, and add fine detail. We will then look at how to create animal or bird studies—learning how to capture shape, texture, and character. You’ll use techniques like directional felting, fibre blending, and shading to bring your subject to life.

Would you like to learn how to create a 3D Needle Felted creature, like this cute little fella?

Why not join our Needle Felting Next Steps 3D?

You will create an animal of your choice, using wire armatures and core wool to shape the body, before adding more realistic textures and details with surface felting.

This course is ideal for learners who have completed a beginners' needle felting course or have some experience with basic 3D needle felting techniques.

Check out these photos from our town twinning 25th anniversary celebration at Kirkby Library! 🎉Yesterday we marked 25 years since Kirkby in Ashfield twinned with Ronchin, France! 🇫🇷🇬🇧 There was some lovely French food and a display all about the twinning.

The display will be up for the rest of June for anyone to come and have a look at! Come and find out how Kirkby and Ronchin became twin towns and about the visits that have happened since. Pop into the library any time to have a look 👀

We’re recruiting a Casual Library Assistant - Sutton Cluster (Sutton-in-Ashfield, Skegby, Huthwaite and Ladybrook).

We’re looking for someone with excellent customer service skills who loves helping others and who would relish the chance to inspire people to read, learn and enjoy culture. You will also have experience of using computers and should be able to use ICT competently and safely.

An interest in and knowledge of public library services, plus an interest in broader culture and learning are essential requirements for this post.

As a Casual Library Assistant your days, hours and times of work will vary and will be dependent on the requirements of Inspire and your own availability for work.

RAMZEE is the author/illustrator of The Cheat Book Vol. 1: Can Kamal Cheat His Way Onto the Cool Table - one of the amazing books nominated in our Longer Book category 🤔

He has written comic books for 2000ad and Marvel, and he designs and runs his own comics and illustration workshops too!
