We recently held our team AGM.

Peter Miller has served as our chairman for a good number of years, having also held the position of treasurer prior to that. Peter has decided the time is right to retire from the team and we would like to express our thanks for his time, commitment and guidance to KSMRT. We wish you well Peter and hope you enjoy all the spare time you'll suddenly find yourself with!

Peter was presented with this lovely picture of Nine Standards by the team to remind him of his time with us.

Incoming Chairman Jason Winder has his work cut out! But we're very glad he's stepped into the role.

Are you looking for something to do over Easter weekend?

Kirkby Stephen MRT will be opening the doors to base, so come along and have a natter to our team members and find out what we do. It's definitely not all about dashing about on the fells looking for lost or injured folk.

Our Land Rovers will be out and about round town, so give us a wave if you spot us!

The climbing wall will be open both Saturday and Sunday, so the kids can come and have a go.

There will be refreshments and food being served in the crew room. (Can't beat a nice brew while you chat to folks!)

How to find us:

Our base is opposite Kirkby Stephen Grammar School (one of the Easter Rally car parks) and buses will be regularly running up and down from town.

We look forward to seeing everyone over the weekend and welcoming you to our base. 😀

As it's International Womens Day we would like to celebrate our KSMRT team women, trainee Sharon and team member Kath. Can you spot them in our recent group photo from our winter training course in Scotland?

It's always good to have diversity within the team, it gives a better breadth of experience to draw on in all we do, and that relates to everyone not just our women.

KSMRT will be cheering on our very own team members taking on this epic challenge, Rhys B dot 953 and Paul N 970. Go guys you've got this!

Rhys is raising money for LDSAMRA, the umbrella organisation for MR Teams with the Lake District. If you're feeling generous you can donate at the link below.

We wish them good running, the best of luck and are extremely proud of them for representing our team. Some team members are hoping to cheer them on at various points on their run as the route comes through our patch.

Our commiserations go to Martin S who had hoped to compete but has had to withdraw due to injury (maybe next year Martin?).

If you're at a loss for something to do on Friday evening, here's a suggestion.

Funds raised will be split between Penrith MRT, Kirkby Stephen MRT and Orton Market Hall. So you can support 3 local good causes with 1 night out!

We look forward to seeing you at the Nine Standards fell race today, which starts at midday. Theo is hoping it will be less muddy than last year (which it should be because of all the new flagstones and the new bridge). Happy new year from the team!

It's today. So for tonight's team training we're off out onto the fells in the wet and dark to practise our navigation skills (as we regularly do) to make sure when it's bad visibility and/or dark we can find our casualties as quickly as possible.

I'd imagine we're all looking forward to a warm pub after our training tonight!

Always a pleasure to work with our colleagues from Kendal Mountain Rescue Team.
