As we get ready to open our newly refurbished upstairs rooms for bookings, we’d love to hear your thoughts.

How much do you think spaces like ORWELL and BURLEIGH should be hired for?

Should we:
• charge by the hour?
• offer half-day or full-day rates?
• have morning / afternoon / evening session rates?
• have different rates for community groups, charities and businesses?

We want the rooms to be affordable, well used, and financially sustainable for the Town Hall — so your feedback would be really helpful as we work out the best approach.

Please share your thoughts in the comments!

thank you in advance

There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes at Milnathort Town Hall recently!

The upstairs rooms, which had sadly fallen into very poor repair and were largely unused, have now been completely refurbished — and we’re delighted to introduce their new names:

BURLEIGH
A bright and welcoming meeting space, with new tables and chairs arriving soon to complete the transformation.

ORWELL
Perfect as a therapy or consultation room, and also able to double as a dressing room for visiting performers and artists.

UPSTAIRS BATHROOM
Fresh, clean, and conveniently located between both rooms.

We’ll soon be making these spaces available to hire through our website booking system, so keep an eye out for updates. In the meantime, feel free to get in touch if you’re interested in hiring one of our newly renovated rooms and would like to come and have a look around.

These improvements would not have been possible without the generous support of the Rural Perth & Kinross Community-Led Local Development (RPK CLLD) Local Action Group (LAG), with funding from the Scottish Government’s Rural Community-Led Local Development Fund 2024/25 as part of the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP), and Arthur & Margaret Thompson’s Charitable Trust. We are extremely grateful for their support in helping bring these spaces back into use for the community.

Help Shape the Future of Milnathort Town Hall

We’re exploring upgrading the Town Hall with greatly improved sound and lighting — making it a more flexible and capable space for events, performances and community use.

As part of this, we’re keen to understand who might be interested in using the hall if these improvements were made.

We’d love to hear from:
• Musicians (folk, jazz, acoustic, bands)
• Open mic / spoken word organisers
• Comedy promoters
• Schools or youth groups (concerts, drama, recitals)
• Fitness, dance or community class leaders
• Corporate trainers
• Wedding planners
• Anyone with ideas for events or activities

If you or your group might be interested, please comment below or send us a message — even a quick note on what you’d like to run is really helpful.

This will help us build a strong case for funding and ensure the hall meets the needs of the community now and into the future.

Thank you...and feel free to share!

Town Hall Bench Update.
We’ve not been idle at the Kinross and District Men's Shed. All the woodwork is finished and the primer/sealer coat is done. Just an undercoat and two top coats to go!
Calum cleaned the end caps and lacquered them - they look great.

BENCH RESTORATION UPDATE

Great progress at the Kinross and District Men's Shed. All of the new slats have been cut and are ready for trimming, sanding, and painting. Then the bench can be reassembled and returned.

It’s taking a little longer than expected, but the finish is in sight — the bench will be back looking fantastic very soon. Thanks for your patience....

BENCH RESTORATION UPDATE
Over at the Kinross and District Men's Shed the bench has now been completely dismantled. The good slats were fed through the planer today. Many slats will need to be replaced, so the team needs to make and fit new ones. Work is well underway — we’ll have the bench back as soon as possible.
