Have you ever found yourself asking:

❓... "Is there more to life than this?"

"Most definitely! My whole life has changed for the better. I am still changing even now. As in how I act, how I look at situations and people. I’m finally free of everything that was holding me back in life, including how I see myself and my purpose in life." - Mandy

Alpha is a series that enables you to explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment where everyone is welcome. No matter your background or beliefs, you’re invited πŸ’―

This week is carers week

Across the country there are 5.8 million people in the UK caring for a family member, friend or neighbour who is ill, older or disabled and many find the impact of caring on their health, finances and employment opportunities a challenge.

Many carers face social isolation, financial struggles, or declining mental and physical health as a result of their responsibilities.

This year’s campaign, focuses on building carer friendly communities - calling for better recognition and support for unpaid carers.

So if you know someone who is a carer, reach out to them, have a conversation and see how we can better support carers

This week is volunteers week, and i wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the amazing volunteer groups out there working to make our community a better place, let me encourage you to add to the groups and organisations to the comments below, so they get the recognition they deserve

Firstly the amazing Friends of King George VI Park who work tirelessly (not only one saturday morning a month) to keep the park looking clean and tidy (special mention to the Cuan Wildlife Rescue who helped with the Swans last year)

In that same vein, the and Wall Heath Litter pick Group (who FB won't let me tag πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ) who are out and about on a regular basis, helping keep the community clean

We have some amazing In Bloom groups as well, Kingswinford in Bloom, Wall Heath in Bloom & Wordsley In Bloom are all doing amazing things in their communities and really making a difference

It's not just about keeping things tidy and pretty either, the fabulous group at Kingswinford Royal British Legion do amazing work supporting veterens and their families, and Wall Heath and Kingswinford War Memorial Group have the aim to honour the men who gave their lives

Organisations like Ravens Rescue UK and One Cat at a Time are out their looking after our furry friends

And finally the team behind Kingswinford Community Group who regularly give their time and effort to put on events in Kingswinford

I know there are numerous others out there so please let me encourage you to share your community groups or those you want to help support

It's Neighbourhood Watch Week,

We want to celebrate all the hard work our volunteers do as part of the Neighbourhood watch week, so we would like to encourage you to nominate people you feel deserve to be recognised

Nominations for the 2026 volunteer recognition awards will open on Monday 1 June and close on 5 July.

It is so important to us to celebrate the great, often unique, work that our volunteers do. These awards, sponsored by SimpliSafe, recognise individuals whose work goes above and beyond - making a real change in their communities.

We received over 385 nominations last year, so it was a very difficult task to choose the finalists. We have 5 categories, these are:

Innovation and reach
Crime prevention
Community health and wellbeing
Young volunteer award
Special recognition award

You can nominate a volunteer via this link

And find out more about each catagory on this one
