Beverley. I have some really good news to share with you.

I have just heard from Connexin to say that they have had a really positive meeting with KCOM today and that because of all the pressure that councillors and residents have put upon them, Ofcom and the government, they have agreed to enter into accelerated discussions on broadband infrastructure sharing.

As a result Connexin have decided to temporarily pause their pole build activities in Beverley and Molescroft while they “focus on getting the best possible infrastructure sharing agreement to benefit local residents.”

This is another example of people power at its most effective and we can all be delighted that common sense is prevailing.

BEVERLEY PARK AND RIDE SCHEME

The Conservative East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet today decided to break a long standing pledge to the people of Beverley to deliver a Park and Ride scheme to aid town centre congestion and improve the environment.

Everyone knows that Councils can’t afford to buy buses and operate Park and Ride schemes themselves, but this Cabinet has closed its minds to the possibility of having a private sector bus company operate the scheme.

I am asking them to talk to the private sector before finally scrapping Beverley’s Park and Ride and turning their backs on the £4.5m of developers’ money which would have paid for this at no cost to the taxpayer.

We feel now more than ever that it’s time to flag up that there is another option than the Conservatives here. Beverley and Holderness can have a fresh face if we all come together.

Introducing Denis Healy, our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. Denis is a councillor in Beverley and Molescroft (St Marys Ward) and the Leader of the Opposition on East Riding Council. He spends every single day scrutinising the work of the Conservatives and led Beverley to turn fully Lib Dem at the local elections last May. The Conservatives and Labour have no councillors here, not even one on East Riding of Yorkshire Council or Beverley Town Council.

The Lib Dems control half of Beverley and Holderness, we have 50% of the council seats - more than the Conservatives. If we band together, Beverley and Holderness will change for the better.

Let’s stop the Conservatives at this election and elect someone with principles who truly cares for the area and has been part of our East Riding community for close to four decades.
