The Type 1 Diabetes and Eating Disorders (T1DE) service is supporting Diabetes Awareness Week 2026 by raising awareness of the stigma around having diabetes. “Diabetes is nobody’s fault.”

T1DE is an eating disorder in a person with type 1 diabetes. This can be when someone restricts the amount of insulin they take on purpose to lose weight or stop gaining weight. Or they are experiencing another form of eating disorder like bulimia, anorexia, or binge eating disorder alongside their type 1 diabetes.

The T1DE team supports people on their recovery journey.

If you are concerned this might be affecting you or someone close to you, more information can be found on our website https://www.chcpcic.org.uk/chcp-services/evolve/pages/t1de

You can make a referral to the service here https://systmonline.tpp-uk.com/2/OnlineConsultation?OrgId=938455489048
