Today is a day to recognise and thank everyone who makes up our emergency services and Search & Rescue community. 💙

At Watersafe UK Search & Rescue, we know first-hand the commitment, training and dedication that goes into being there when someone needs help.

Whether you’re responding to an incident, supporting from behind the scenes, training, or volunteering your time, every role matters.

Today we also remember those who have sadly lost their lives while serving others. 🕊️

To all emergency service personnel and volunteers, thank you for showing up, for helping others and for being there when it matters most. 💙🌊

🌊 WATERSAFE UK SEARCH & RESCUE 🌊
📍 Norfolk & Nottingham

We’re looking for new volunteers to join our team! 💙

Whether you’re interested in getting involved on the operational side, or would rather help out behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.

🚤 OPERATIONAL VOLUNTEERS
Get involved with training and learn the skills needed to support our water rescue, search and flood response work.

💙 NON-OPERATIONAL VOLUNTEERS
There’s plenty going on outside of the water too. We’re always grateful for people who can help with fundraising, events, admin, logistics, community work and everything else that goes into keeping the team running.

🎓 FULL TRAINING IS PROVIDED

You don’t need to have rescue experience or know everything already. What matters is having the right attitude, being committed and being willing to learn.

🌊🚨 Training with a purpose at Bawsey Estate & Country Park 🚨🌊

Our Watersafe UK Search & Rescue Team recently joined King’s Lynn Fire & Rescue crews and Hunstanton Fire Cadets for a realistic water rescue training exercise at Bawsey.

The scenario involved multiple casualties entering the water, giving everyone the opportunity to practise vital rescue techniques, search procedures and the use of specialist equipment in a realistic environment.

Training alongside other emergency services and future firefighters is incredibly valuable. It allows us to work together, test our skills and strengthen the teamwork that could make all the difference during a real-life incident. 🚒🛟

But exercises like this also highlight an important message, open water can be extremely dangerous, even when it looks calm and inviting. Hidden hazards, cold water, sudden changes in depth and difficult conditions can quickly turn a situation into an emergency.

Please think twice before entering unknown water and always stay safe around our waterways. 💙

🌊🚤 Out on the water with Watersafe UK Search & Rescue! 🛟

There’s nothing quite like getting out on the water, putting the boat through its paces and keeping our team ready for whatever may come our way.

Days like this are a great opportunity for our volunteers to build experience, practise our skills and work together as a team, all while enjoying being out on the water. Every hour spent training and getting familiar with our equipment helps us to be better prepared when we’re called upon to assist someone in need.

From launching the boat and navigating the water to practising manoeuvres and working together as a crew, it’s all part of keeping our response sharp and our volunteers confident.

A big part of what we do happens behind the scenes, but it all comes down to one thing, being ready when it matters. 💙

🌊 Stay safe around water.
🚤 Respect the water.
🛟 And remember, our volunteers are always working to help keep our waterways safer.

A great day spent down at Fenland Waterski Club working alongside the team and supporting the Swan Youth Group! 🌊🚤

It was also a great opportunity to begin what we hope will be a fantastic working relationship with Fenland waterski Club. 🤝

We’re really looking forward to working together more in the future, sharing knowledge and supporting our local community wherever we can. 💙
