The result is never an excuse for abuse.

This World Cup, football will bring people together in pubs, venues, workplaces, community spaces and homes across the UK.

But not everyone experiences match day in the same way. Sexist comments, harassment, intimidation and abuse should never be dismissed as “banter” or passion for the game.

White Ribbon UK’s Match Day Kit shares practical ways to speak up safely, support others and help create safer, more respectful spaces on and off the pitch.

Congratulations to this week’s Team of the Week - Virtual Ward

Their nomination reads: "After being admitted to The QEH with sepsis, I was offered the option to continue my recovery at home under the Virtual Clinic Team, and what followed was an outstanding experience. With clear guidance, round-the-clock support, and direct access to expert advice through Hannah and the team, I felt reassured every step of the way. Questions were answered quickly, even when my GP couldn’t assist, and appointments were efficient and seamless, with prompt follow-up calls explaining results. Being able to recover in the comfort of my own home while knowing support was always just a phone call away made a huge difference. The care, organisation, and dedication of the team truly stood out, and this service feels like a brilliant step forward for the NHS, I couldn’t be more impressed or grateful."
