Engage Norfolk

Engage Norfolk Engage Norfolk provides a range of services for children, young people and adults with disabilities and complex needs in King's Lynn & West Norfolk.

At Engage Norfolk, we do things a little differently… we put YOU at the very centre of your services and everything we do is aimed at providing a truly bespoke care and support package to each of our clients. We don’t have a pre-designed service model that clients must ‘fit in to’, instead we start with an open, honest discussion with you and your existing circle of support to establish what kind

of lifestyle you want to live, what goals you want to achieve, and what hopes you have for the future. We will also discuss what you feel able to do for yourself, what you’d like support with, and any areas that you are unable to complete yourself and would need more help with. We try to be as flexible and open minded as possible and our general motto is ‘if it is legal and safe, we’ll aim to support you to do it’. With this information as our starting point we can then build a service around you that truly reflects those unique wishes, goals, and needs. We’ll also recruit and train your Support Worker(s) in collaboration with you and your circle of support so that we get the right person with not just the right skills and experience, but also the right personality, and similar hobbies, and interests. Our approach means that we can support a huge range of needs as each care/support package is designed around you as an individual and your Support Worker(s) will be recruited and trained to meet your specific needs. We believe this is what ‘person-centred’ truly means.

🌍 Last week was World Environment Day.

We celebrated something we're genuinely proud of. At Engage, we:

♻️ Recycle at local supermarkets, sort and drop off materials as part of our routine
🗑️ We provide recycling bins at home, making sustainable choices part of everyday life
🚌 Encourage the use of public transport - hopping on the bus not only helps the planet, it saves money and builds real independence in the community

That last one matters a lot to us. Getting out, navigating a bus route, making independent choices - these are the kinds of skills that build confidence and open doors. The fact that it's also better for the environment? That's a win all round.

This week is Carers Week, and we want to take a moment to say something simple.

To every parent, sibling, partner, grandparent, or friend who gives their time, energy, and love to support someone with autism or a learning disability:

We see you. And what you do matters more than words can say.

Caring for someone you love is one of the most selfless things a person can do. It doesn't always come with recognition, a day off, or even a thank you. It can be exhausting, isolating, and overwhelming at times, even when it's also the most meaningful thing in your life.

Carers Week exists to change that. To shine a light on the estimated 5.7 million unpaid carers across the UK who quietly keep going, day after day.

At Engage Care & Support, we work alongside carers every single day. We understand the weight of it, and we're here to help carry some of it with you. Whether that's through support at home, in the community, or at our daytime Hub, we're here to give you the breathing space you deserve.

💚 Drop us a message or visit engagecaresupport.co.uk to find out how we can support you and your family.

And if you know a carer who deserves to be celebrated this week, tag them below. Let's make sure they feel seen. 👇

At Engage, we're a team that shows up for the people we support and for each other. If that sounds like somewhere you'd thrive, we'd love to hear from you.

Transitions can feel like a big step - but with the right support, they can also be the start of something really positive.

This moment marks the beginning of a new routine, a new space, and new opportunities to feel comfortable, confident, and at home. With support every step of the journey, we’re here to make sure each transition is shaped around the individual - at their pace, in a way that feels right for them.

It’s about building a place where someone truly belongs.

There's nothing quite like a team that goes the extra mile. 🌸💚

One of our wonderful service users & carers worked together to transform a recycled pallet into this beautiful planter, now sitting proudly outside our office and Hub - filled with fresh, colourful flowers and ready to welcome everyone who walks through our doors. 🌺✨

We absolutely love this for so many reasons. Not only is it a brilliant example of upcycling and looking after our environment ♻️, but it's a reminder of the kind of team and support we have here at Engage Care & Support - people who genuinely care. Creating a warm and welcoming space that everyone can be proud of.

A huge well done and thank you to them both for creating this little masterpiece 👏

Higher education is a journey that looks different for every young person - and for those with autism or a learning disability, it can feel like the road ahead has a few more obstacles than most.

But it is possible.

With the right support in place - whether that's Disabled Students' Allowance, adjustments from a university's disability team, or ongoing care and community support alongside studies - young people are finding their way into lecture halls, campus life, and futures they've worked incredibly hard for.

At Engage Care & Support, we walk alongside individuals and families through some of life's biggest transitions. If you're starting to think about what the next chapter might look like for your young person, we'd love to have that conversation with you.

You don't have to figure it all out alone.

Drop us a message or visit www.engagecaresupport.co.uk to find out how we can help.

When behaviour is misunderstood, people get left behind. Daniel's story is why we do what we do.

'Daniel' is 27 and has autism. By the time he came to Engage Care & Support, he had experienced multiple placement breakdowns. Not because he was too difficult to support, but because the support around him hadn't been built with him in mind.

High staff turnover meant he never got the chance to build trust. Reactive strategies meant every difficult moment became a crisis. And gradually, Daniel found himself more and more excluded from the community - and from a life that felt meaningful.

We knew things had to be different.

We started by listening. We built a consistent, specialist-trained team around Daniel - people who showed up, day after day, until trust became possible. We looked carefully at what was driving his behaviour, because we believe that behaviour is always communication. And we worked with Daniel to build structured daily routines, real connections in his community, and a life that gave him purpose.

The difference has been significant. Incidents have reduced. There have been no further placement breakdowns. Daniel is more engaged in his community, more emotionally regulated, and perhaps most importantly, he has a growing sense of his own self-worth and belief in what he's capable of.

That last part matters to us more than any metric.

If someone you care about has been written off by services that weren't right for them, we'd gently encourage you to get in touch. The right support, built around the right person, changes everything.

Sea air, cheeky seagulls, and a floating door… just a regular day out with Engage! 🌊😄

Last week, we headed to the beautiful Sheringham for a breath of fresh coastal air — and it did not disappoint!

Days like this are what it's all about. Getting outside, exploring, laughing, and making memories together. 💚

Sheringham is such a gem right on our Norfolk doorstep - the beach, the independent shops, the fresh fish and chips, the friendly locals. If you haven't visited recently, we'd absolutely recommend a trip! 🐟✨

Have you been to Sheringham? Or do you have a favourite Norfolk coastal spot you'd recommend for our next adventure?

Drop it in the comments below - we're always looking for new places to explore! 👇
