Good Morning,

Yesterday, PCSO Rawson and PCSO Barnes were out and about in your local area conducting proactive foot patrols.

Below we have added some photos from our walk.

Whilst at the park next to the Bluebell Cafe, we spoke to numerous individuals and completed some Derbyshire Alert surveys.

If you do see any of our officers out and about in your area whilst out on patrol, do not be afraid to come and say hello as we all love to have a chat.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is conduct that has caused – or is likely to cause – harassment, alarm or distress to any person and appears to be on the increase in Killamarsh.

* a group of teenage boys throwing stones at houses and windows.
* a group of teenagers on bikes and E-scooters weaving in and out of cars at the leisure centre and Aldi car park, risking themselves getting hit by cars, and potential causing damage to vehicles.
* a group of teenage boys and girls knock-a-door running, in which the current trend appears to be kicking the door.
* a group of teenagers targeting The Bungalows where elderly and vulnerable people live.

Please report and provide any CCTV and officers will follow up.

🚨 Hate Crime Awareness Week 11th – 18th October🚨

This week focuses on raising awareness of hate crime and highlighting the important of creating safer, more inclusive communities across Derbyshire.

A hate crime is defined as 'Any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice based on a person's race or perceived race; religion or perceived religion; sexual orientation or perceived sexual orientation; disability or perceived disability and any crime motivated by hostility or prejudice against a person who is transgender or perceived to be transgender.'

Hate Crime can have a significant impact on individuals, families and communities. Everyone has the right to feel safe, respected and free from discrimination and hostility.

Officers across Eckington and Killamarsh will be carrying out a range of community activities highlighting hate crime.

Monday 12th October at Renishaw & Spinkhill Community Hall 17:30-18:30hrs

Police officers from Killamarsh and Eckington Police SNT will be present to answer your questions, have a chat about your concerns, will be proactive in case there is something they can do to improve their policing and helping community to be a safer place. These meetings gives you a chance to voice concerns, share observations, and provide feedback on policing in the area.

The officers attending will provide crime prevention advice and ensure our policing strategies align with your community needs. If you have any concerns or worries that you wish to share but don't want to discuss it with the group, there will be an opportunity to speak to the officers separately. It doesn't matter where you live as long as it's in the Eckington parish, you can visit any of these events due to it being the same team that covers all four, this also covers Troway.

🚔 Warrant Executed by Your Safer Neighbourhood Team – One Arrested

Officers from your Safer Neighbourhood Team in KILLAMARSH/ECKINGTON have executed a Section 8 search warrant at an address in the local area as part of ongoing enquiries.

We would also like to extend our thanks to our other Safer Neighbourhood Teams who have assisted today.

As a result of the warrant, one person has been arrested and is currently assisting police with our enquiries.

Information from our communities plays an important role in helping us tackle crime and take action. We would like to thank those who continue to report suspicious or criminal activity.

Please keep reporting your concerns. Every piece of information helps us build a clearer picture and can support further police action.

Preventing doorstep crime

Doorstep crime can include rogue traders, offering home improvement or gardening services, or bogus callers who claim to be the council, police, health carers or energy companies. If in doubt - keep them out.

Rogue traders may:
* Say they are in the area and have spotted a problem with your home or garden.
* Claim to have materials left over from another job, like paving or tarmac.
* Try to pressurise you to buy goods or sign up for services on the spot.
* Offer to carry out work cheaply, but charge an extortionate price after it has been completed.
* Offer to drive you to a bank so you can withdraw money to pay them.
* Provide false names, addresses or telephone numbers.
* A pedlar is someone who calls at your door to sell items that they have on offer. This can often include cleaning or household goods.
* By law, they are required to carry a pedlar’s certificate, which are issued by the police force in the area where they live.

Bogus callers may:
* Claim to be working for the council, water, gas or electric company. They could also say they are a nurse, doctor or from the police.
* Say they need to come into your home, or try to get you to go outside.
* Try to distract you so they can steal your money.
* Can be male, female or even children.

Tips to keep you safe
* Check the identity of any caller. Confirm who they are by calling the company they work for using number from the telephone directory or a bill.
* Ask a neighbour to come around to check them before you open the door.
* Tell them to come back at a time when someone will be at home with you.
* Keep doors and windows locked and use the door chain every time you answer the door.

Make your home a difficult target.

Inside your home

Make it difficult for your valuables to be taken.
Check who’s at the door and don’t open it if you feel anxious.
Leave some lights on or consider using plug timers if it will be dark before you get home.
Store keys, including your car keys, out of sight and away from the front door area.
Hide wallets, identity cards, passports and cash.
Mark or etch your property with your postcode, house, flat number or the first three letters of your house name.
Take photographs of your valuable items such as jewellery.

Outside your home

Install good outside lighting.
Scale back hedges or fences that prevent people seeing your home.
Lock doors and windows every time you leave the house, even when you are in the garden.
Cancel milk or other deliveries if you are planning on being away from home.
Ask a neighbour, friend or relative to keep an eye on your property if you are going away.
Keep ladders and gardening tools locked away to prevent them being used to gain entry to your home.
Secure bikes by locking them to an immoveable object inside a locked shed or garage.
Install a burglar alarm that can be seen on the outside of your property.

On your street

Be a good neighbour and check on your neighbours’ properties if they are away.
Remove any letters or deliveries from the letterbox or doorway.
Clear snow to your neighbours’ doors, or walk on their paths if they are away - footprints will make the house appear occupied.
Burglars look for the best house to target, so report anyone acting suspiciously.
Consider setting up or joining a
Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
