Kidlington and District Labour Party Branch For Labour Party members to organise and discuss issues we care about in Kidlington, Yarnton, Gosford and Water Eaton and Begbroke

On April 18 a General Election was called. On 15 May two vacancies at Kidlington Parish Council were posted. The deadline for contesting these was 2 June. On 15 June two new councillors were co-opted - a CON and a LIB DEM. At no point was the local Labour Party branch informed, a normal courtesy, as we would have contested the seats, giving the villagers a voice.
There's seemingly no rule that says you cannot run local elections during a General Election?
At the very least the process was secretive and undemocratic. As usual the LDs and CONs form another coalition to control power locally.

Congratulations to Marie Tidball for campaigning so strongly in Oxford West and Abingdon, facing up to LD and CON lies.
We're proud to have such an excellent new Labour MP in Oxford East. Thank you to everyone in our branch who worked for her victory!

Just watched Clive Lewis on QT to get inspiration for tomorrow. Don't miss 0845 Radio Oxford where I'll be speaking up for Labour in Oxfordshire.

We will fight a General Election on June 8. Every vote for the conservatives will mean we have a more divisive unequal society.

Happy Easter comrades! There are three weeks to go and with postal ballots dropping onto doormats focusing minds, let's encourage our supporters to vote by meeting them face to face. Most people I've contacted recently have warmly received our message - we are the opposition now but - with their vote - we could lead our council and reverse some of their worst decisions.
