On April 18 a General Election was called. On 15 May two vacancies at Kidlington Parish Council were posted. The deadline for contesting these was 2 June. On 15 June two new councillors were co-opted - a CON and a LIB DEM. At no point was the local Labour Party branch informed, a normal courtesy, as we would have contested the seats, giving the villagers a voice.
There's seemingly no rule that says you cannot run local elections during a General Election?
At the very least the process was secretive and undemocratic. As usual the LDs and CONs form another coalition to control power locally.
