⭐️ National Volunteer Week ⭐️

A special appreciation post today for the wonderful Heather who gives not only her time but also her biscuits, chocolates and goodies that she brings in every week for the residents. We love hearing your weekly updates on the adventures of Trevor the dog and your stories and wisdom.

Heather has been volunteering here at The Firs week in, week out for around 20 years and never shows up without a smile, and also uses her time to volunteer elsewhere every week helping young families and people with dementia just to name a couple!

So thank you Heather for being the amazing human being that you are and for your dedication to helping others all these years.

A quick look at what we've been up to...

Friday we made some lovely ice cream pictures fitting with the beautiful weather last week! And in the afternoon we got out in the garden and residents and their visitors enjoyed an actual ice cream 🍦☀️

Monday this week we have made a start on our summer display, we made some shiny colourful fish yesterday morning and after lunch Nick made a little sail boat ⛵️ 🐠

We hope everyone has been keeping cool in the beautiful weather this week! ☀️

Yesterday morning we enjoyed biscuit decorating as it's National biscuit day tomorrow 🍪
After lunch John tended to the flowers on the patio and soaked up some of the rays ☀️
Also Trevor enjoyed cooling off with his ice cream earlier in the week! 🍦

Yesterday morning we made the most of the beautiful weather ☀️

We listened to the birds 🐦
Read books and magazines 📚
And got out a few garden games and listened to music on the patio admiring all the beautiful new plants 🌺

Our green fingered residents have been busy making our patio area beautiful with new bedding plants today, and their hard work has really paid off! 🥰🌸🌺
John also enjoyed a lovely walk aswell, making the most of the weather whilst we have it!

National Dougnut Week! 🍩

As it's National Doughnut Week this week we spent this morning decorating mini Doughnuts for everyone to enjoy with their tea this afternoon 🤤🥰

This morning we got the jigsaw puzzles out and and completed 6 altogether! 🧩

Did you know that jigsaws are not only great for hand eye coordination but actually increase blood flow to the brain and improve short term memory and improve cognitive function as well as being a simple activity to enjoy socially! 💚

Yesterday was bingo day which is always enjoyed and as always plenty of laughs and giggles and of course plenty of winners too!
