Vapes contain batteries, and when batteries end up in general waste they can be crushed or damaged, causing fires in collection vehicles and at recycling facilities.
Every year, batteries and electrical items cause fires on waste and recycling trucks and in our Materials Recycling Facility, putting staff, vehicles and services at risk. 🚒
✅ If you have an unwanted v**e:
🛍️ Place it in a bag on top of your green recycling container so our crews can see it and collect it safely
📍 Or take it to a local recycling point
🚫 Never put v**es in your rubbish or recycling containers.
By disposing of v**es correctly, you're helping to keep our crews safe and ensuring valuable materials can be recovered and recycled. ♻️

♻️ Ever wondered what happens to your recycling after it's collected?
Your cans and plastics go on quite a journey! 🚛
At our materials recovery facility in Keynsham, magnets separate steel and aluminium, while advanced optical sorting technology identifies and sorts different plastics.
These materials are then baled, sent for processing, and transformed into new products. 🌍✨

✅ A successful fly-tipping investigation.

Construction waste was illegally dumped in a public area. Our officers traced the offender and issued a £600 Fixed Penalty Notice, which has since been paid.

If you're using a builder, contractor, or someone advertising waste removal services, always check they have a valid waste carrier licence before handing over your waste.
Ask to see their waste carrier licence
Check they’re registered with the Environment Agency
Always request a waste transfer note

If your waste is passed to an unregistered carrier and later fly tipped, you could be held accountable.
Help protect our countryside and communities by disposing of waste responsibly.

Our Reuse Shop & donation point will be fully open as normal from tomorrow - Tuesday 27 October

⚠️ Service Update ⚠️

The donation point and outer area of Reuse Shop at Keynsham Recycling Centre is temporarily closed due to maintenance work.

The shop remains open, and visitors are welcome to continue using the indoor area.

We apologise for any inconvenience and will provide updates as soon as the facilities reopen.

This black bag was opened on the sorting table at Midsomer Norton Recycling Centre and look what was found inside:

🧥 Clearing Out Summer Clothes? Let Anglo Recycling Collect Them for Free.

Swapping summer wardrobes for winter coats and jumpers? Take the opportunity to clear out clothing and household items you no longer use.

There are many charity shops based in B&NES that will accept good quality unwanted items. To find out more about these local charities and their donation points please visit our link in the comments.

However, if you’re struggling to make it to a charity shop, Anglo Doorstep Collections offer a free and convenient way to give unwanted useable items a second chance.

Items accepted includes clothing, books, toys, textiles, small, working electricals and other reusable household items. Booking takes just a few minutes online, allowing you to declutter without leaving home.
