A short week but don't let that fool you, your Town Council has been as busy as ever...

🔶 Members and the Clerk have been working incredibly hard on a response to the WDC Regulation 19 consultation for the South Warwickshire Local Plan. This is to try and prevent further development within the town without the relevant infrastructure to support this, and to protect relevant heritage and greenfield sites. This will be submitted imminently and published on our website.
🔶 At last night's Town Council meeting, members agreed to take ownership of a new bench to be installed near to Camelot Grove on Dencer Drive. This led to an agreement to review all benches within the town that are currently unadopted.
🔶 We are delighted to confirm that funding of £25,000 has been approved from the WCC Highways Community Action Fund following an application by members for improvements outside of Kenilworth School. This has been match funded by the Town Council's CIL group making a total of £50,000 dedicated funding for this project.
🔶 The Town Council, alongside English Heritage and WCC have organised a public engagement session to be held at Kenilworth Castle on the evening of 15 October 2026 between 4pm and 8pm. Residents can learn more about the proposed new crossing between the Castle and Abbey Fields.
🔶 The Town Council agreed last night to write to the Chief Executive of WDC to request a formal update on the outstanding issues at Abbey Fields including the duck feeding platform, tennis courts, pavilion and the younger childrens playarea.
🔶 Following the recent launch of a WCC consultation to install a continuous shared footway/cycle track and a new zebra crossing along Warwick Road between Wilkshire Road and Rouncil Lane, the Town Council have a full copy of the plans and description for residents to view if they are unable to access these online. ✅ Check the route and decide where you’d like to watch the race.
✅ Check the timings of the rolling road closures in your area and plan your journey accordingly.
✅ If you’re heading to Leamington, plan how you’ll get there and allow extra time for travel.
✅ If you’re watching from the roadside, find a safe spot well away from the road, following any instructions from race officials.
✅ Bring any homemade flags, cowbells, or just your best cheering voice! 📣

👉 This week the Town Council hosted a Castle Pass drop in session, it proved popular as always and we are very open to hosting these events on a more regular basis. Let us know in the comments if this would interest you! On that note our Castle Pass process may be slightly slower over the next few weeks due to our printing machine needing some TLC!
👉 The Town Mayor has done superbly today in her challenge to cycle 80 miles on a spin bike in Abbey Fields, giving a nod to the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women's Race coming through our town on Sunday, and to raise money for her two charities, Warwickshire Hearts and Warwickshire Search & Rescue! Hopefully you'll have had the chance to pop down and cheer her on!
👉 The Town Council have today raised the Progress Pride Flag outside of Jubilee House in recognition of the Warwickshire Pride Festival taking place tomorrow in Leamington Spa. There will be plenty to see and do including the parade, market stalls and live entertainment all between the hours of 11am until 8pm! https://warwickshirepride.co.uk/pride-festival
