Fingers Crossed for the sunny weekend we have been promised! Here is your Friday round up -

🌞 The week started on a high with members looking back on a successful day at The Kenilworth Show last weekend! Despite the rain we were proud to show off our Kenilworth Revealed App and had many visitors to our stand with compliments of what a nice place Kenilworth is to live! We heartedly agree!
🌞 Plans are underway for our Annual Residents (Castle pass holders) Picnic at the Castle on Saturday 11 July 2026 between 5:30pm and 8:30pm. More details to follow but who would be interested in another one stop shop afternoon to claim your free pass? Let us know in the comments!
🌞 Our Town Mayor has been inundated with invitations and events...today Cllr Insley opened the all new Air Ambulance Charity shop in the town! Tomorrow she will be cycling into the Lions Grand Show, its a free event for all so do pop along and support your local community!
🌞 On Thursday Members met with Balfour Beatty Vinci in our Council Chamber to discuss in more detail a proposed arts programme across the area.
🌞 Finally, we held our first Youth Council meeting last night. The enthusiasm shone and we are so excited to see what they do first...watch this space for social media take overs, blog posts, surveys and events! We hope you will all support our Youth Council on their journey!

Following two public questions being submitted to our last Town Council meeting concerning the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP), and in anticipation of the next Public Consultation by WDC, Kenilworth Town Council have set up a dedicated email address for all residents to use to send their comments and feedback to us. These will then be used to draft the Town Council's response to the SWLP consultation later this summer.

For full details of the current stage of the creation of the SWLP please visit - https://www.southwarwickshire.org.uk/swlp/

Friday round up incoming...

πŸ‘‰ Last night KTC held a Full Town Council meeting and Planning Committee Meeting. This saw our Councillors approve a funding contribution of up to Β£125,000 for a new skatepark at Castle Farm! Together with funds of Β£150,000 set aside by Warwick District Council, this exciting project is well on its way to fruition πŸ™Œ
πŸ‘‰ Members also endorsed Warwickshire County Council's Teen Market project with the first set to be held in Abbey Fields alongside the Food Festival at the end of July! Whilst the organisation is still underway, further details and how to sign up to host a stall can be found here - https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/sector-specialist-support-business-1/support-businesses-warwickshire-town-centres/5
πŸ‘‰ The new WDC South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) has been a hot topic recently with WDC announcing that the final public consultation has been delayed until July 2026. To assist our residents as much as possible, the Town Council will be setting up a dedicated webpage and email address to capture residents concerns or thoughts, ensuring we take these into account when preparing this Councils consultation response later this summer. Please send any thoughts to [email protected]
πŸ‘‰ Members and Officers were extremely sad to learn of the recent passing of our long standing internal auditor, David Phillips. Cllr Adrian Marsh commented that David was indeed a stalwart of the community, an exemplary sportsman and he will be very much missed.
πŸ‘‰ Finally, the Kenilworth Show returns tomorrow just outside of Stoneleigh village! KTC will have a stall there so do pop along and say hello! Don't forget, the Town Council provided funding to the show to ensure a shuttle bus could run this year, avoiding the need for those long parking queues! The bus will run from Abbey End bus stop, on the hour from 9am...and its FREE!

Wishing everybody a lovely weekend!

The wonderful Kenilworth Show is back for 2026 taking place this Saturday 6 June at Stoneleigh!

The Kenilworth Show is a much-loved annual event attracting around 10,000–12,000 visitors, celebrating agriculture, rural life, local businesses and the wider community. With deep roots in Kenilworth and the surrounding Warwickshire area, it is very much a local show for local people and an important date in the town’s calendar.

You can book tickets before the event by following this link - https://www.kenilworthshow.co.uk/buytickets or on the day (but you'll pay a bit more!)

So what has the Town Council been up to recently?

πŸ“£ Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who came along and joined in with our 'Living History Afternoon' in Abbey Fields! We truly hoped you enjoyed the activities on offer and a special thank you to all of our volunteers who dressed up in the sweltering weather and gave up their time.
πŸ“£ Speaking of events, we are busy getting ready for hosting a stall at the Kenilworth Show this Saturday, 6 June 2026! If you haven't already booked your tickets you can still do so here - https://www.kenilworthshow.co.uk/buytickets...and the Town Council have also awarded a grant to the show for putting on a shuttle bus going from Warwick Road to the showground so no need to worry about parking! Just keeping our fingers crossed for some sunshine now! Do come and say hello!
πŸ“£ Its a new month and that means our Mayor has been busy gathering the next few prizes for our Medieval Matches Game! If you haven't tried it yet, all you need to do is have a go at matching the medieval logos to our modern day businesses, and in return the Town Council offers a local prize to one lucky winner! Look out for our post later in the day for the link and June's offering! *Hint - its a tasty one!*
πŸ“£ This Thursday we will be holding a Town Council Meeting and Planning Committee Meeting in the Council Chamber from 7pm. This meeting of the calendar year is always particularly important as it includes formal approval of the Annual Governance Statement and Accounting Statements for the financial year. This is a public meeting and all residents are welcome to attend.
πŸ“£ Finally a shout out to all those residents who do not yet have a Kenilworth Castle Residents Pass...if you don't...why not! Apply here - https://kenilworth-tc.gov.uk/information/castle-pass/castle-pass-application-form/
