Delighted to help develop and run a pilot for Rescue 3's Safe Operating Around Water Programme for mountain rescue and SAR teams.
Operating around the water is recognised as one of the most hazardous activities each teams undertake; every team I work with has reported near misses in this area.
This programme is specifically designed to meet the needs of search teams not wanting to operate in floods but know they will undertake Bankside searches and need to make decisions around crossing shallow water.
Many thanks to Moffat Mountain Rescue for being part of the pilot programme.

We're now able to run Rescue 3 certificated Mud Safety and Rescue courses using Morecambe Bay in conjunction with Bay Rescue. This must be the UK's premier location for this form of training with outstanding facilities and great location.

Very sad to pass on the sad news that Geoff Seddon recently passed away. Over the last few years I think I've mentioned Geoff on just about every course we've run. At 70 Geoff passed his Rescue 3 SRT instructors and then went on to gain his FSRBO instructors qualification. Geoff's ability in the water and at reading the water was amazing. I remember him showing up people in their 20's on long swims. When many people think that swiftwater is a young persons game Geoff showed us that we can continue for as long as we choose and it's not all about physical. Missing you already Geoff and your legacy will stay with us forever.
