Please note you don't need to be a Jedburgh resident to apply for one of the roles, just the skills and the passion to get this important Scottish Borders asset reopened.

🏊 Help Re-open Jedburgh Pool! 🏊

As previously communicated, a group of volunteers has been working tirelessly since January 2025 to build a business plan to bring our pool and gym back to life. The business plan in the name of 'Jed Valley Swim' will be presented to SBC in May/June 2026. We are making great progress with support from the Scottish Borders Council and South of Scotland Enterprise, but we can't do it alone—we need you!

Wow – thank you! The response to the survey so far has been incredible. With almost 800 responses already and the deadline on Monday, let’s see if we can get that to 1,000.

Please keep sharing and encouraging friends, family and neighbours to take part. The information on potential gym use and demand for swimming lessons is helping to directly strengthen the business plan.

While the future pool and gym offer will be broader than this, these are the specific areas we’ve been asked to evidence more clearly – so every response genuinely matters.

Jedburgh Swimming Pool & Gym

A working group of local volunteers, alongside members of the Community Council and Town Team, has been working closely with Scottish Borders Council officers and local councillors to explore options to reopen the Jedburgh swimming pool and gym.

A business plan is now being prepared with support from council officers, an independent external consultant, and an independent quantity surveyor who are verifying the cost of capital works that need to be done and financial and operational projections respectively ahead of presentation to the elected councillors.

Work is very much ongoing, and it’s been brilliant to welcome new volunteers to the group, bringing a wide range of relevant skills and experience.

We’re also keen to revisit the community’s amazing response to our pledge in early 2025. That data has been invaluable in shaping the business case so far. As we move into this next stage, we’d really like to gather a bit more detail — particularly around the potential use of the gym and demand for swimming lessons.

A huge thank you to Alastair and Louise for their fantastic generosity. As JLFT are now going through the insolvency process, unfortunately, we will be unable to refund any payments made upfront for swimming lessons.

However, Mounthooly Driving Range have kindly offered to donate a partial refund to individuals.

IMPORTANT - Please all members of the pool that pay by Direct Debit (DD), if you have not done so already, please cancel the DD with your bank as soon as possible to make sure that the next month's payment is not taken. If you cannot cancel in time please be assured you will be able to claim the money back from the bank via the DD Indemnity Guarantee.
