Great sunny days out canvassing in Blackwall & Cubitt Town with a fab group of volunteers, morning and afternoon. Fantastic engagement with residents on the doorstep!

Sofia, Matthew and Nick are locals who understand the issues on the Island and are willing to work hard on behalf of residents.

On the 5th of May, vote for Sofia De Sousa, Matthew Miles and Nick Vandyke for a strong opposition to the Labour run Tower Hamlets Council!

Throughout the pandemic Tower Hamlets Council spent £237,000 of Central Government money on a four day festival to encourage people to get jabbed. It resulted in only 435 people getting jabbed.
Considering the Council keeps complaining about lack of funding from the Government, this was probably not the best way to use it.

A festival organised by a London council to encourage vaccination saw just 435 people getting jabbed.

Great to be out and about in Cubitt Town today talking to residents. Whilst their main feedback is things are getting worse in Tower Hamlets, we’ve been working very hard to raise the issues that matter to them - including turning Cubitt Town Library into a community hub!

Constructive meeting with Toyosi and Paul from OneHousing today on the Samuda Estate

Kelson, Halyard, Dagmar and Talia inspected. I rose the cleaning roster of corridors and lifts, fire safety, security and leaks in Kelson, and wider maintenance issues residents have been raised with Matthew, Sofia and I.

The possible regeneration process and the safeguarding of both tenants and leaseholders during that process, were also discussed.

Good to have senior management out to meet me and thank you to residents for bringing their individual issues to me beforehand.

Proof will be in the pudding, let’s see what changes are seen in the coming weeks, repairs and deep cleans are being organised now.

We raised the issue of lots of duckweed in the Blackwall Basin with the Canal & River Trust - pleased to report that the local team will be cleaning this up soon! 🙌🏼

Despite declaring a Climate Emergency 3 years ago, Tower Hamlets Council has the lowest recycle rate in London! This is something Blackwall & Cubitt Town residents have been complaining to us about.

It’s time to kick out failing Labour Mayor John Biggs in May.
