Meet Amber, one of our Operational Coordinators for our Housing Services.
Amber has worked in Anglia Care Trust’s Housing Services for five years and has seen some really positive changes in the service during that time.
One of her newest properties, an extension to our provision of long-term temporary accommodation in Lowestoft (with tenants typically staying for around 18–24 months), has increased our existing provision in the area by 23 beds. The team works alongside them to build independence, with the ultimate aim of helping them move on to a more permanent home. Amber has said:
“One of the things I’m most proud of is getting the right mix of people living together. It’s about understanding each person as an individual and creating a home where people feel comfortable, supported and able to live alongside one another. Getting that balance right and seeing the house become a home is a real success.
But it’s also about what happens next. Of our 23 tenants in our newest property, we’ve already successfully supported 19 to register with Gateway to Homechoice, helping them take an important step towards securing more permanent accommodation. The remaining tenants are new to the service and are still at the beginning of their journey with us.”
