Anglia Care Trust

Anglia Care Trust We are a charity providing services to vulnerable people in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Advice, guidance and advocacy - helping people to be heard.

Founded in 1968, we support vulnerable people within the community providing housing services, domestic abuse services, drug and alcohol services, counseling and mediation, money and employment advice, to adults, children, and families. Our services can be categories as:
Community safety: working with male and female victims of domestic abuse and providing outreach, crisis and intensive support

along with advice and guidance on surrounding issues; alcohol recovery project
Housing services: helping vulnerable individuals to gain the necessary skills to maintain tenancies and live independently. We deliver housing services both on an independent basis and as part of a group of agencies working together and known as the SNAP Consortium. We provide money advice, employment advice; we run an Appropriate Adult scheme; we provide mentoring services and advocacy & Independent Visitor services and mediation services. We also part of the Ipswich Local Advice Partnership (ILAP), a partnership of 12 local agencies working together to improve the provision of advice for the people of Ipswich. We have 65 staff and around 100 volunteers - they are all amazing people, providing the best services and all of whom are dedicated to their work; our staff have taken part in many fundraising events to help provide extra services and we have created an Empowerment Fund to empower our service users to change their lives for the better. Grants are awarded for activities, training and support that’s proven to have a sustainable, long-term effect, and which can’t be gained elsewhere.

We recently joined the Stowupland Community Day, enjoying a lovely day meeting local families and members of the community.

Our Community Connectors team was on hand to chat about the support available to help people improve their wellbeing, reduce isolation and connect with activities in their local area. We were also joined by our new Community Pathway Officer, Ebony, who spoke to visitors about the new role supporting people as they are discharged from Woodlands Mental Health Hospital, helping them reconnect with their community and access the support they need.

Thank you to everyone who came to see us - we always value the opportunity to meet local people.

The Suffolk Domestic Abuse Helpline is here for more than just those experiencing abuse and is available 24/7, including Bank Holidays.

Over the past year, out of the 631 calls taken, over 100 of these have been friends or family members and professionals who were concerned about someone and didn’t know what to do next or how to start this conversation with someone they were worried about.

You don’t need to be experiencing domestic abuse yourself to call us. Our trained team can listen, provide information and help you work out what to do next.

A garden to be proud of!

Louis and Romeo, two brothers living in Anglia Care Trust housing, have transformed their garden into a welcoming outdoor space through hard work, determination and teamwork.

The makeover is about more than just the garden - it's about building confidence, taking pride in their home and showing what can be achieved with a little support and a lot of commitment.

Check out the amazing transformation. Well done, Louis and Romeo!

Last week we attended Care Fair 2026 where our Independent Visiting Service met children and young people in care, care-experienced young people, carers and professionals from across Suffolk.

We had a fun, interactive stall where visitors learnt about our Independent Visiting Service, enjoyed bracelet making and discovered how our volunteers support young people by being a trusted adult, a listening ear and finding opportunities to build confidence through shared experiences.

Del, Independent Visiting Service Coordinator, said: "Every young person deserves someone who's there just for them. An Independent Visitor can be that consistent, positive person who helps build confidence, creates lasting memories and reminds a young person that they matter."

For over 2 years, Becky has been making a real difference across East Suffolk, helping to raise awareness of domestic abuse and ensuring people know where they can turn for support.

No two days are ever the same. One day Becky could be out in the community, speaking with local organisations and helping people recognise the signs of domestic abuse. The next, she's working directly with families, providing practical support to help reduce risk.

"What I love most about my role is the variety. Alongside raising awareness in the community, I also work frontline, supporting families to reduce their risk within their family environment. It's incredibly rewarding to know that every day brings an opportunity to make a difference." - Becky

It's people like Becky, and the compassion and dedication they bring every day, that help make our communities safer and ensure that nobody has to face domestic abuse alone.

If you, or someone you know, is experiencing domestic abuse, please remember that support is available.

Another evening and another opportunity to celebrate some of the people who make such a difference to our work.

This time, we were delighted to welcome more of our volunteers to The Butt and Oyster for a relaxed summer get-together filled with delicious food and plenty of catching up.

Our volunteers give a lot throughout the year, so it's always a pleasure to spend time saying thank you and recognising their commitment and kindness.

To everyone who joined us – thank you, we hope you had a fantastic evening and left feeling appreciated!

Anglia Care Trust welcomes the Prime Minister’s announcement of a £442m national funding boost to house all rough sleepers by Christmas.

We look forward to working with our partners in local government to help implement the government’s plan and playing our part in ending rough sleeping once and for all here in Suffolk.

Meet one of our Community Connector Officers, Louis.

If you're looking for a career where you can make a real difference, Louis' journey shows where it could begin.

While completing his studies, Louis volunteered with Anglia Care Trust, gaining practical experience, developing his skills and building confidence while supporting people in their communities. After more than a year of making a meaningful contribution, we're delighted to have welcomed him into our team as a Community Connector Officer.

Louis said:

"I was very keen to apply some of the skills and knowledge I'd developed through my studies to support those who need it and volunteering was a great way of doing that. While dealing with serious issues, being able to offer support and help alleviate some of the negativity and stress for our service users is incredibly meaningful to me.

My goal in life is to help people with their mental health, so when the opportunity to become an employee came up, it was a perfect fit. If you're thinking about whether volunteering is suitable, especially within the Community Connectors team, I would 100% recommend doing so."

We're currently recruiting 2 Community Support Officers. If you're compassionate, enjoy working alongside people and want a career that has a real impact on the local community, we'd love to hear from you.

Could you be the next person to join our team?
